Have you ever seen a shabu-shabu place that serves yukjeon (beef pancake) AND stone-pot rice with it..? (And spicy beef tendon salad as a side dish.) The shabu-shabu lineup at Yunseul in Seoul Station's Grand Central is crazy, haha
Above all.. this is a shabu-shabu place that uses minari without holding back, so minari fanatics can't help but love it. Four of us visited, the lineup was generous, and every single dish was really satisfying, so I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a Seoul Station group meal or family dinner. And of course it's perfect for a Seoul Station date too!!!!!!!!
Where is Yunseul at Seoul Station?
Yunseul is about a 2-minute walk from Seoul Station Exit 4, on the 1st floor of the Grand Central building!! It's where the Tim Hortons café is, and I was surprised at how prettily the seating on the way up is decorated..!!
The exterior looks really upscale. The words "Yunseul: Shabu Dining" alone already have atmosphere, right?
What is the atmosphere like at Yunseul?
The first things you notice at Yunseul are the high ceilings and the floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The view is insane... The whole restaurant is glass, so it never feels stuffy, and it's great for eating while looking outside. That's why I'd strongly recommend it for a Seoul Station meetup with friends, a family meal out, or a date..
The ceiling is high so air circulates well, and you can eat in comfort without feeling hot.
Yunseul menu and set prices

Yunseul calls itself shabu dining, and it doesn't sell only shabu-shabu. There are various jeongol (hot pot) dishes, beef yukjeon, jangjorim jeon (soy-braised beef pancake), minari gon-i jeon, yukhoe and more, so you can enjoy a wide range of Korean dishes!! On top of that, each set includes one extra dish besides the shabu-shabu, which felt different and was so good!!
The extra dish differs from the single set meal up to the set for 4, so please check below~~
- Single Yunseul set meal (₩24,000) - jeon and cockle minari chocho-muchim
- Set for 2 (₩59,000) - minari gon-i jeon
- Set for 3 (₩89,000) - Korean beef yukhoe
- Set for 4 (₩119,000) - beef yukjeon

Broth, beef and rice choices for the set for four
There were four of us, so the set for 4!! With a Yunseul set, you pick your broth, beef and rice (dessert) each.
- Broth: clear anchovy broth / doenjang naengi broth / spicy mushroom broth
- Beef: prime chuck (default) / prime flap meat (+₩3,000)
- Rice (dessert): gondre porridge / bulgogi kimchi fried rice / butter soy jangjorim rice (+₩2,000) / low-salt pollock roe crunchy cucumber rice (+₩3,000)
Broth and beef are one thing, but choosing the rice (dessert) was so fascinating haha Bulgogi kimchi fried rice at a shabu-shabu place...? We couldn't skip the porridge, so we ordered 1 gondre porridge + 3 bulgogi kimchi fried rice haha
What comes with Yunseul's set for four?

The Yunseul set for 4 first came with a pot full of minari and bean sprouts, vegetables, sauces and basic side dishes. Once the broth was poured in it looked even more glowing...
Side dish: spicy beef tendon salad
But here's the thing... Yunseul serves spicy seuji-muchim (beef tendon salad) as a side dish.

I really love seuji ㅠㅠ It comes with rice cakes, sweet but spicy like tteokbokki, and so delicious ㅠㅠ The staff told us to eat it while warm, and we finished it all before it cooled and before the shabu-shabu even boiled ㅠㅠ No free refills! You have to order more!!

Three dipping sauces and vegetables with lion's mane mushroom
Cabbage, kimchi to go with the kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), and 3 sauces!! Thoughtfully, they prepared one sauce per person. Chili sauce / peanut sauce / chili soy sauce
There's minari in the pot and then minari again in the vegetables (love it). And enoki, king oyster mushrooms, bok choy, napa cabbage, white wood ear, black wood ear, shiitake... all the mushrooms mushroom lovers adore come out, and even lion's mane mushroom!! I'm losing it!!!
I love lion's mane mushroom so much... like white wood ear, it soaks up the broth in a flash and tastes amazing..

This is the table spread before the yukjeon came out. They even split the meat onto both sides so it's easy to eat, perfect touch.
How much minari does Yunseul use?
If I had to pick one thing I remember about Yunseul, it's definitely minari haha Minari in the basic pot, minari in the vegetables, minari in the kalguksu, minari in the yukjeon toohahaha
Minari's fragrant scent goes SO well with the anchovy broth,,, If you usually like minari, the flavor will blow your mind..

Honestly, shabu-shabu is a dish that's hard to get wrong, so what's there to say about the taste.. haha So it's better to look at it by ingredients. Minari, which never lets you down however you eat it, brings out even more flavor with the meat and with the sauces haha And if you look at the green scenery outside through the big windows, the satisfaction goes through the roof...
Beef yukjeon and cockle minari salad in the set for four
The Yunseul set for 4 comes with beef yukjeon and minari cockle muchim. The glowing yukjeon appears... are you kidding me, human... the look is insane.. And you can see the minari muchim there too haha There are cockles in it. It's minari cockle muchim!!
Wow.. yukjeon at a shabu-shabu place was fascinating enough, and the taste was beyond expectations... The richness of egg and the richness of beef are crazy, and when you put the minari muchim on top, the tangy, spicy seasoning wraps your mouth and then the yukjeon's savoriness hits, you have to come and try it yourself ㅠㅠ

Trying new combinations at a shabu-shabu place makes my mouth so happy..❤️

Yunseul's house-made kalguksu noodles and kimchi
At Yunseul, they refilled the broth once midway and then put in the kalguksu. The noodles are house-made, so the feel is clearly different from store-bought kalguksu. And they added minari again haha

The kimchi is really good, so eating it with the thickly simmered kalguksu, ah.. even if you're full you have to eat this.... ㅠㅠ Everyone said they were full, but when I said it was delicious, they all took a bite haha (it really is delicious..)

Mini stone-pot rice for each person to finish
The rice (dessert) in a Yunseul set comes as one mini stone-pot rice per person. Another shock hahahaha We ordered bulgogi kimchi fried rice, and a teeny, cute stone pot came out and we were so surprised haha

And of course we had to taste the porridge, so here's the teeny cute gondre porridge too ❤️ Wow, I felt like I'd burst, but I couldn't not try it,,right?
For the bulgogi kimchi fried rice, you just mix it up hard, and with tangy kimchi, savory bulgogi and seaweed flakes all mixed together it goes in even when you're about to burst.. Wow.. Yunseul impressed me again and again right to the finish. So delicious ㅠㅠ

It doesn't look like much, but the gondre (thistle) porridge was also way beyond expectations!!!!! The fragrant gondre scent spreads in your mouth and it's really delicious. My friends said they'd burst and couldn't eat any more, but I told them to try just one bite, and all of them fell for the gondre's fragrance and the sesame oil's nuttiness ㅠㅠㅠ
Yunseul verdict: would I go back?
- A great spot where you can enjoy shabu-shabu, yukjeon and even mini stone-pot rice
- Highly recommended, and recommended again, for minari lovers
- Really recommended for Seoul Station meetups, family meals and dates
- An open, airy space with big windows and high ceilings
- Would I revisit: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Yunseul isn't just a good shabu-shabu place; it's a real shabu dining, premium shabu-shabu restaurant where you can also enjoy yukjeon, mini stone-pot rice, seuji-muchim and other meal dishes. It uses minari without holding back, so I loved it from start to finish, and I also liked that rare ingredients like lion's mane mushroom came out.
The glass windows are great for eating while looking outside, and the set for 4 was so, so, so satisfying that I really want to recommend it. If you're looking for a place near Seoul Station for a meetup with friends, a family meal or a date, Yunseul!! Do visit once!!
