In short
Dongducheon Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Bupyeong Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant in Bupyeong, Incheon, where pork is grilled on a large cauldron lid. We had half pork belly and half pork neck, then added pork jowl and fried rice while the staff handled the grilling. You know those places that quietly come to mind whenever you crave meat? For me, Dongducheon Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Bupyeong Branch is exactly that kind of place. This time, too, my friend and I were deciding on a menu with a firm “Today, it has to be meat!” and this place naturally popped into my head haha.

How close is it to Bupyeong Station?
Dongducheon Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Bupyeong Branch is about a three-minute walk from Exit 7 of Bupyeong Station, so it is really easy to get to. That makes it a handy Bupyeong Korean BBQ restaurant for a date or a get-together with friends when you have plans near the station!

Rather than feeling overly hectic or intimidating, the restaurant had a retro, comfortable atmosphere that was great for a relaxed meal. It would work for a couple’s date, a family meal out, or even a company dinner with a bigger group.

It had a cozy, home-like feel, so it was nice to sit around talking for a long time while eating meat. That comfortable atmosphere is part of why I would recommend it to anyone looking for Korean BBQ in Bupyeong.

Ordering half pork belly and half pork neck
At Dongducheon Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal, a Bupyeong Korean BBQ spot, you can enjoy different cuts including pork belly, pork neck, and pork jowl at good value. We ordered the half pork belly, half pork neck set!
- Fresh pork belly & pork neck ₩35,900
- Fresh pork jowl ₩39,900
- Cauldron-lid truffle Jjapagetti ₩7,500
- Mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) & bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) ₩7,000
- Crab doenjang stew (soybean-paste stew) & finishing fried rice ₩3,000 each

Meat and sides grilled together on a cauldron lid
The highlight at Dongducheon Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal is right in its name: you grill the meat on a huge cauldron lid. It is not just meat on its own—lots of sides arrive from the start, making the meal feel wonderfully generous.

There were also pickled onions, salt, and ssamjang (savory dipping paste), so it was fun choosing sauces for each cut of meat!

The spread was substantial for the price, so as someone who loves eating meat with lots of accompaniments, my first thought was that this was a great-value Bupyeong restaurant.

I also loved that doenjang stew and steamed egg were included. When a Korean BBQ restaurant takes care of both stew and steamed egg as part of the basics, it somehow feels even more filling and abundant haha.

Low-temperature-aged pork and a golden Maillard crust
True to its reputation as a top Bupyeong Korean BBQ restaurant, Dongducheon uses carefully selected Grade 1 pork.

Along with selecting good pork, they say they use their own curing oil and a low-temperature aging method with 30 years of tradition to draw out the flavor even more. Once grilled, it definitely had a different depth of flavor from ordinary fresh pork.

And another key point is the Maillard reaction! Grilled on the intensely heated cauldron lid, the outside developed a golden, crisp texture while the inside stayed juicy. In other words, properly crisp outside and tender inside! The savory aroma rising as the surface browned really got my appetite going. It made me think, ah, this is why people eat cauldron-lid pork belly.

There were plenty of sides to enjoy with the meat, too: bean sprouts, garlic chives, meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce), grilled mushrooms, and kimchi! Adding kimchi or chives to a piece of meat cuts through the richness and makes the savory flavor really pop.

Personally, I love the combination of meat with kimchi and bean sprouts grilled together on the cauldron lid, and of course I kept reaching for them that day too haha.

A relaxed meal with staff grilling the meat
Another great thing about Dongducheon Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal in Bupyeong is that the staff grill the meat for you! I loved not having to worry about when to turn it—I could just relax and eat hahaha. Meat can taste different depending on how it is cooked, so having the staff grill it meant we could enjoy it at just the right point.

The pork belly, browned beautifully on the cauldron lid, had an appealing balance of fat and lean meat,

while the pork neck was lighter than the belly but still let its distinctive meaty flavor shine through.

Add grilled button mushrooms, and it is even better!

With sauces and banchan (Korean side dishes) for all kinds of flavors, I could see why this is such a popular Korean BBQ restaurant in Bupyeong haha.

Adding pork jowl and finishing with fried rice
Since this Bupyeong favorite was so delicious, it felt like a shame to stop after only two cuts, so we added pork jowl. It was nicely chewy and tender at the same time, offering a different kind of enjoyment from pork belly and pork neck.

We were full from the meat, but Koreans cannot leave this out at the end, right? Fried rice! After grilling meat on the cauldron lid, finishing with fried rice makes for a truly perfect course.
Once again, Dongducheon Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal Bupyeong Branch was satisfying. Since the staff grill the meat, you do not have to frantically keep turning it, and you can eat the deliciously cooked meat right away. I bet there are quite a few people like me who visit once, then keep thinking about it and come back! If you are wondering what to eat near Bupyeong Station today, go all in on delicious cauldron-lid pork belly with grilled kimchi, bean sprouts, and chives—and finish with fried rice~
