When we feel like jjukkumi (webfoot octopus) in Guwol-dong, there’s a place my family often goes. It’s Boksakkot Pineun Jip Incheon Branch (복사꽃피는집 인천점).

I’ve already been here several times, and my mom especially goes often enough to be practically a regular. It’s busy every time we visit, so it definitely seems to be quite a well-known jjukkumi place in Guwol-dong.

There can be a wait even at weekday lunchtime, so I recommend going a little early for your first visit. We arrived around 11:30 a.m. that day and there were already quite a few people eating; by noon, people were starting to wait.

Parking was convenient because there’s a spacious outdoor lot right beside the restaurant. Some restaurants in Guwol-dong make parking stressful, but this one has plenty of space, so it’s fine to come by car.

A mixed order of jjukkumi and spicy pork

The set menus here offer better value than ordering individual items. That day, we ordered 1 portion of spicy pork and 2 portions of jjukkumi. When jjukkumi alone feels a little lacking, you can have spicy pork too, so it’s nice for families to mix and match several dishes like this.

The standard spread includes salad, seasoned vegetable side dishes, and muksabal, a chilled acorn-jelly soup. I personally really liked the muksabal. It was tangy and cool, so having a bite now and then while eating spicy jjukkumi made my mouth feel refreshed. The salad vegetables were fresh too.

When you want more side dishes, you don’t have to keep asking the staff—you can simply take what you need from the self-service bar, which was convenient. Next to it, seaweed soup, 야관문 tea, and sodas are also available for self-service.

Having seaweed soup is especially handy for people dining with children. When we visited with our child, it was nice that we could feed them the side dishes and seaweed soup. There was a microwave too, so I think it would be convenient for warming baby food if you visit with a baby who eats it.

High chairs are available, and the restroom is inside the restaurant, making it quite comfortable for families. There’s also group seating on the second floor, so it looks suitable for family gatherings or meals with a larger group.

Plump, tender jjukkumi at spice level 2

The jjukkumi was plump and tender. You can choose spice levels 1, 2, or 3 here, and since I tend to like spicy food, I ordered level 2 that day.

For my taste, though, level 2 wasn’t actually very spicy. If you’re not good with spicy food, level 1 would probably be best, while people who usually eat spicy food well should find level 2 a safe choice.

And the portion was larger than expected, so after finishing the jjukkumi and spicy pork, we were really full..

Spicy jjukkumi with gorgonzola pizza

We ordered the gorgonzola pizza, and it was better than expected. It didn’t feel like frozen pizza; it seemed to be made in-house, with a generous amount of cheese and a nutty, slightly sweet flavor that surprisingly went well with the jjukkumi.

The spicy jjukkumi together with the sweet, nutty pizza made for a better combination than I expected. At first, you might wonder what kind of pairing jjukkumi and pizza could be, but once you try it, you’ll understand why they come together.

Free coffee or tea after the meal

After finishing your meal and paying, you can also enjoy free coffee or tea for dessert.

There are quite a few café-style tables at the front of the restaurant, so you can sit down with a cup of tea and rest before heading out.

It was also quietly convenient that we could take care of dessert right there instead of having to find a separate place for coffee after eating.

A neighborhood regular spot we keep returning to

My family has visited so many times that it now feels like a familiar regular spot. My mom especially likes it, so whenever someone suggests having great jjukkumi in Incheon, Boksakkot Pineun Jip Incheon Branch naturally comes up, haha. Rather than seeking it out from the start as some special famous restaurant, we tried it a few times, liked it, and kept going back. Personally, that makes it feel even more like a true neighborhood favorite.
