Namdong seafood restaurant for grilled shrimp: Veteran General Fish Market
In short
Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch is a seafood restaurant in Namdong, Incheon, serving raw shrimp and grilled shrimp. My friend and I enjoyed seasonal shrimp, from ice-chilled raw shrimp to crisp, sweet butter-grilled heads and plump grilled shrimp, plus a self-cooked kimchi pancake. Verdict: a generous, good-value stop for shrimp lovers.

Shrimp season is finally here! After work, my friend and I headed out for shrimp, which is always delicious no matter when you eat it. We wondered where to go, then picked the hot spot of Guwol-dong! Let me share our story of a seriously generous meal.

The season has finally arrived. Shrimp season is back. I've been so happy lately, so I went straight out for shrimp with a friend.

We visited Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch and took the subway. Take Incheon Subway Line 1 to Arts Center Station, then it is about a 10-minute walk. The weather was cool, too, so it was nice for walking.
What are the dining room and self-service bar like?

This Incheon raw-shrimp restaurant is part of a chain, so each branch is a little different, but this one had an especially lively feel.

The interior was much bigger than it looked from outside. Even though it was packed with people, there were plenty of seats. Further inside the hall were lots of seats with a slight terrace feel, which made it feel open.

With roomy, varied seating, it was a place where you could have a private meal.

There was also a separate self-service bar in the middle of the restaurant, where you could pick up more side dishes if you needed them. So convenient, honestly.

And one more thing: kimchi buchimgae (kimchi pancake)! I have hardly met anyone who dislikes kimchi pancakes, and here you can cook one yourself.

A pancake that is absolutely perfect with soju, ahh~ Being able to cook as much as you want—how great is that? Hahaha.
Raw shrimp and grilled shrimp

Shrimp are all the rage right now, so there was no question about that day's menu. There were so many choices, and they sold everything from raw shrimp to grilled shrimp in different sizes.

So we ordered raw shrimp and grilled shrimp. You simply have to eat them now!! After ordering and waiting a bit, a generous spread of basic side dishes arrived.

Seasoned raw fish salad.

White kimchi.

And flying fish roe, too. Once all the things to enjoy with the shrimp had come out, we waited a little longer for the shrimp.

For the small raw-shrimp order we had as our first dish, they separately butter-grilled the heads. It felt like getting to enjoy two different flavors.

The raw shrimp were truly fresh, and they laid cool ice underneath, so it was great that we could enjoy them fresh right to the end.

The grilled shrimp heads in particular were crisp, and the butter had a sweet savoriness that kept me reaching for more. Maybe because they were in season, but they were really delicious.

After catching up about this and that over drinks with a friend I had not seen in a while!

We ordered an extra platter of grilled shrimp. It was grilled shrimp, so we had to have it! It cooked up beautifully. Yes, this is the look~~

The shrimp were wonderfully plump and looked so appetizing, with meat packed inside, so the texture was really good. That bouncy texture was absolutely delicious.

The heads were butter-grilled separately again, so it was a day of eating to my heart's content, hahaha. They were honestly so, so delicious.

Chewy, savory-salty, plump shrimp meat. My daughter even knows how good shrimp taste now and says she wants some, and I think I understand why, haha.

They were generously sized, so one platter left us full and happy, haha. The value was good, too, and I loved that we could eat at such reasonable prices. With generous portions, fair prices, and great value, Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch is one I recommend to shrimp lovers.
