Today I'm introducing Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch, a Guwol-dong sashimi restaurant where you can eat well for a great price when the sashimi craving hits. And these days grilled tiger prawns are in season too haha, so I saw plenty of people who'd come just for that.

No parking stress in Guwol-dong, thanks to the basement lot

If you drive, parking in Guwol-dong can be a nightmare, but Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch has a basement parking lot, so I parked downstairs and walked up to the first floor.

Quite a few people were there for raw shrimp sashimi and grilled tiger prawns too — seasonal food is the best nourishing food, you know, hahahahahaha.

The interior was spacious, and every table had a tablet you could order from.

The basic side dish spread

The basic sides were white kimchi, wasabi, hoemuchim (spicy raw fish salad), makjang, seaweed soup, dried seaweed, and salted pollack roe, and a little later grilled saury came out too.

Refilling wrap vegetables at the self bar

If you're short on sides or wrap vegetables, you just grab them from the self bar — sashimi means wraps, right? Hahahahaha, wrapping it up just makes it taste even better.

Fry your own kimchi pancake

The kimchi pancake is also self-serve — you fry it thin, flip it, and crisp it up on low heat, and it's absolutely honey-sweet!!!!!!!

Seasonal assorted sashimi for two

There were only two of us, but we ordered the assorted platter for the sashimi lovers among us. It's made up of seasonal fish so you get to try a variety, so an assortment was my pick! Honestly, you enjoy sashimi more by tasting many kinds rather than sticking to just one, right? Hahahahaha. And Veteran General Fish Market seemed like a great spot not just for couples but for families and groups too.

Hello to the assorted sashimi topped with radish sprouts and lemon~~ The visuals are absolutely top-tier, and nothing beats seasonal food as a health booster — seasonal assorted sashimi is the champ, hahaha.

Thank you for the delicious assorted sashimi~~~~ Now let's demolish the star of the show, the sashimi, kyokyokyo. Other tables were eating grilled tiger prawns, so I'll have to come back soon to demolish those too ❤️

A squeeze of lemon before eating 🍋 adds a refreshing zing all around.

Dip it right into the vinegared gochujang and, ugh!!!!!!!!! Your mouth fills with freshness, cleanness, and happiness all at once, what can I even say, I'm genuinely so happy right now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Topping it with onion and radish sprouts

Add onion or radish sprouts on top for extra texture, and the softness and chewiness of the sashimi with the crunch of the onion is just amazing~~? Honestly my favorite combo is salmon and onion, and eating the salmon made me want salmon nigiri too. Salmon nigiri is so good, hahaha.

I could eat plenty of different cuts — flounder, sea bream, red seabream, and more — and it's such good value too. Craving sashimi? I head straight to Veteran in Guwol-dong, hahahaha.

On top of that, grilled saury that's hard to make at home — nom nom.

The salted pollack roe was full of umami and paired well with everything.

Dessert ice cream and a coffee machine

After eating well, we even got dessert ice cream. There's a coffee machine too, so it's great for making an affogato. When I went to get ice cream, the owner told us to sit and enjoy it comfortably, which made finishing the meal even more pleasant.
