Round tables and pojangmacha mood inside Euljiro Charcoal Grill

Walking inside, the round tables gave off strong pojangmacha (street tent bar) vibes, and the spacing between tables was generous with a retro, old-school feel — perfect for grilling meat over drinks.

How ordering works: 300g to start, cuts mixed in 100g portions

At Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch, the first order requires a minimum of 300g. I liked that you don't have to fill it with a single cut — you can mix whichever cuts you want in 100g portions for your first order! After that, additional orders can be made freely in 100g units, making it a great structure for trying a variety of things.

Besides à la carte, there's also a pork one-geun set menu. Pork belly, pork neck, jowl, gyeomaegi skirt meat, ddwitgogi, and pork skin to finish it off — apparently designed for people who can't decide, and the varied composition looked great value.

Beyond meat: seafood and grilled fish on the Euljiro Charcoal menu

And Euljiro Charcoal Grill seems to have almost everything you can grill over charcoal..! Beef and pork are the basics, but they also have king prawns, oysters, scallops, razor clams, and even grilled fish — nothing missing. No need to move to a second spot for round two — you could fill up on meat first, then start round two right here with grilled fish or seafood without changing restaurants!

What beef flap steak 200g plus pork belly 100g costs

I wanted to start light with beef, so I put together an à la carte order. For my first order I picked beef flap steak (toshisal) 200g and pork belly 100g. Toshisal is ₩8,400 per 100g and pork belly is ₩5,900 per 100g — nicely affordable prices that made it easy to choose without hesitation.

Beef flap steak on the charcoal fire

True to charcoal grilling, the subtle charcoal aroma drifted up the moment the fire caught. The toshisal had little fat, so it was chewy and clean-tasting the more you chewed. Maybe because of the charcoal heat, it could feel a touch dry. If you want something more tender, beef short rib meat (galbisal) might be a better choice. Still, starting with beef at this value already made me feel full and satisfied.

Charcoal-grilled pork belly: crisp outside, juicy inside

Now let's try the pork belly. Pork belly grilled over charcoal is truly a love affair. Unlike grilling on a regular pan, the strong yet gentle heat of the charcoal lets the fat drip down below, leaving the outside golden and crispy while the inside stays juicy — absolutely the best.

I've always loved pork belly grilled over charcoal, and now I understand why they recommend the pork one-geun set. Crispy-outside-juicy-inside is a given, and the chewy texture of the meat was a real treat.

Dipping it in anchovy fish sauce brings up the savory flavor twofold — even more delicious!

Garlic gyeomaegi (pork skirt meat), the second-round order

The pork belly was so good that I ordered more — garlic gyeomaegi and another round of pork belly, haha. The garlic gyeomaegi we added had a garlic seasoning layered on top of the skirt meat.

Grilling it over the charcoal fire, the sweet aroma of garlic and the salty seasoning drifted subtly, making my mouth water. The gyeomaegi was on the thicker side, but thanks to the charcoal it cooked through moist all the way inside — biting into it released the juices along with a burst of garlic flavor that was totally addictive! Craving something more, I naturally thought of cold cold noodles and ordered them right away.

Finishing with cold noodles for 4,900 won

The cold noodles (naengmyeon) are also a nice ₩4,900. Seasoned meat with cold noodles — need I say more? It just slides right in. Think of the noodles as a clean palate cleanser to pair alongside your meal!
