Sokcho egg tart takeout shop: 6am booking, 2pm pickup for two, Doris
In short
Doris Patisserie is a takeout-only egg tart shop tucked into an alley of Sokcho Central Market (Sokcho Tourism and Fisheries Market) in Sokcho, Gangwon. On a Sokcho trip with my partner, I booked at 6am the day before for a 2pm pickup and bought an Original box (₩15,000) and a Cream Cheese box (₩16,800), and the crisp pastry and rich custard won us both over. Doris Patisserie bakes egg tarts in limited quantities, so booking ahead is the way to go.

What's inside Doris Patisserie? A takeout-only shop

Doris Patisserie runs as a takeout-only shop. It felt clean and warm overall, and with an open kitchen you can watch freshly baked egg tarts being set out, which got me even more excited.

On one side, boxed egg tarts were lined up neatly, and the sweet smell of butter and freshly baked pastry filled the shop. The owner just looks like someone who bakes incredibly well, you know that feeling? Just a vibe.
Doris Patisserie menu

True to an egg tart specialist, the menu at Doris Patisserie isn't complicated; it focuses on the pure taste of egg tarts, like Original and Cream Cheese. Most items are sold by the box, so they work as a snack on your trip or as a gift for family and friends.

2pm reserved pickup: was there a wait?

I got to Doris Patisserie right at my 2pm reservation, and even though it was pickup time for reserved customers, lots of people were waiting. It really hit me that this is a famous dessert spot in Sokcho.

At Doris Patisserie, reserved orders are sold first, and only the remaining quantity goes on sale at the shop, closing as soon as the prepared stock runs out. Popular time slots often sell out early, so I recommend booking ahead.
How does the Original egg tart taste?

The Original egg tart at Doris Patisserie really impressed me with its crispy, freshly baked pastry and smooth, rich custard filling. The moment you bite in, the buttery aroma bursts out!
How does the Cream Cheese egg tart taste?

The Cream Cheese egg tart at Doris Patisserie adds the nutty richness and flavor of cream cheese to the smooth custard, making for an even deeper dessert. It isn't overly sweet, so it goes really well with coffee.
