Songdo hand drip café with tropical scoop cake: Standard Square
In short
Standard Square is a hand drip coffee and dessert café on Keonbensia-daero in Songdo, Yeonsu, Incheon, that roasts its own beans at its coffee lab in Namdong Industrial Complex. On a rainy morning before work, the writer tried the Tropical Scoop Cake (10,500 won) and an Ethiopia Hure Station G1 anaerobic natural hand drip (7,500 won), and the sweet-tart passion fruit and grapefruit paired well with the tropical-fruit notes of the coffee. Standard Square is a Songdo café worth returning to for anyone who loves fruity coffee and zesty desserts.

How to get to Standard Square in Songdo and where to park
Standard Square is a café at 50 Keonbensia-daero, Building 101, Units 101-102, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon. It is open daily from 09:00 to 22:00, and parking is available in the building. It reminded me of a café I once went to with a friend when we met up in Songdo, and since I had some time to spare, I visited Standard Square, which is famous as a Songdo dessert spot!
Songdo buildings really are spacious, so parking is so easy, I love it T_T The parking lot is so big that you might get confused about where to park though...

This building's parking lot has a separate entrance for the shops, so I recommend parking nearby and going up from there!!

I hurried out with my stuff, and it was raining that day, so my umbrella ended up like this in the wind.. Is the wind insane?! I barely even used my black umbrella T_T I just gave up and arrived at the shop like this.

Standard Square's exterior and interior vibe
Standard Square isn't tucked inside the shopping complex but faces the road, so its modern blue and white exterior really stands out and makes it easy to find!

The inside is also decorated in a blue + white concept, and the owner's sense of style really shows. I could tell there were a lot of neighborhood regulars that day, and I got it right away: the coffee and the atmosphere are both great, so of course. Totally convinced.

There's separate seating in a back room, which looks good for meetups or working alone!!
What makes the coffee and cookies at Standard Square special?
One reason Standard Square is so popular is that it's a coffee spot that even does hand drip!!! A place that does hand drip is more trustworthy, right?

The cookies are also displayed by type and look delicious. All the desserts at Standard Square are made from carefully chosen ingredients like organic flour, grade 1 antibiotic-free eggs, and French chocolate and fresh cream, mixed and baked in the shop every day, so this is totally a can't-go-wrong place~~

The cookies at Standard Square include the following.
- Choco ganache
- Caramel pecan
- Hazelnut dark chocolate
- Walnut dark chocolate
- Dwaeji Bar (pig bar ice cream flavor)
- Salted peanut
- S'mores
- Oreo s'mores
- Pistachio ganache
- Matcha macadamia
- Blueberry crumble
- Red velvet

I was torn about getting a cookie, but then I spotted the Tropical Cake, a scoop cake, so I ordered that! Standard Square has a coffee lab in Namdong Industrial Complex, where it roasts its own beans and offers 4 house blends and decaf coffee.

Standard Square merch and coffee beans for sale
Standard Square also sells merch like T-shirts and its own roasted beans. While waiting for my order, I had a good look around the shop.

I really wanted this T-shirt. The design and colors look perfect for summer.. I have a friend who often buys T-shirts as souvenirs on trips or at cafés, and I thought about pinging her, but she likes coffee too, so I'll just bring her next time, hehe.

As a proper coffee spot, it sells beans too. I have lots of beans at home right now, so I'll come buy some once they run out. Since they roast the beans themselves, there's a wide variety, including many I haven't seen elsewhere, which is very interesting.

How do the Tropical Scoop Cake and Ethiopian hand drip taste?
What I ordered at Standard Square that day was the Tropical Scoop Cake (₩10,500) and the Ethiopia Hure Station G1 Anaerobic Natural hand drip (₩7,500). And here's how my order looked when it came out!!!
- Tropical Scoop Cake ₩10,500
- Ethiopia Hure Station G1 Anaerobic Natural ₩7,500
The scoop cake looks a bit like the Yangzijianglu (mango pomelo dessert) that was all the rage for a while.

But under the Tropical Scoop Cake there's a cake sheet instead of Greek yogurt, and the combination of cream, passion fruit and grapefruit is sweet and tangy, so freaking good. Two older ladies next to me saw it and asked what it was, if it was ice cream, haha. I happily explained it was a cake and we had a little small talk.

For coffee I chose an Ethiopian one, my favorite kind. The owner recommended it as a bean with tropical fruit notes like cranberry, guava, apricot and papaya, so I picked it without hesitation, and the fruity flavor really came through when I drank it. I had a satisfying time with it alongside the dessert.
I was having such a good time at Standard Square that it was soon time to head to work. I wanted to stay longer, but with tears in my eyes I took one last sip and left.. Next time I'll come when I'm free and enjoy it properly!!
