Myeonsikdang for a wide range of dishes in Jiwel City
I visited Myeonsikdang, a great restaurant in Cheongju's Jiwel City. I had tonkotsu ramen, chilled chicken soba, and a spicy galbi rice bowl, and every dish was delicious with great value for money, so I definitely recommend it!

Apparently, it was featured on Jeongwaja! You can park in the building's underground lot, and the restaurant is on the first floor of Building A. Parking in Building B is fine too!

Myeonsikdang order and prices
Here is the menu at Myeonsikdang, a Jiwel City favorite! Myeonsikdang has such a wide variety of dishes, including ramen, soba, pho, udon, rice bowls, and katsu! The prices are affordable too, so lots of students come here!
I ordered tonkotsu ramen for ₩8,400, plus ₩500 for extra spice and ₩1,000 for a soft-boiled egg; chilled chicken soba for ₩10,500; and a spicy galbi rice bowl for ₩10,500. There are lots of dishes and various set menus too, so there is plenty to choose from, haha.

I loved that everything came out quickly, all at once! The plating is so neat too, right?! I loved how nicely it was served. They will bring kimchi and danmuji (pickled radish) if you ask.

Tonkotsu ramen with extra spice
First up was the tonkotsu ramen with extra spice and a soft-boiled egg! The regular spicy tonkotsu ramen is too hot for me, so adding the spice makes it just nicely spicy, haha.

The bean sprouts were cooked perfectly, and the noodles were wonderfully springy. Myeonsikdang's ramen is delicious because the noodles are thin! Noodles that are too thick feel heavy...

The noodles were well seasoned, tender, and so delicious. For ramen, Myeonsikdang is the one... I am the person who only eats tonkotsu ramen whenever I come here. I stick to one thing. That is how good it is, haha.

The chashu was huge too!! There was no gamey smell at all, and it was incredibly tender.

The broth had no off smell either and was super rich! Nutty and delicious.

Chilled chicken soba with icy broth
Next was the chilled chicken soba!! It came topped with finely shredded chicken breast. There was quite a lot of chicken breast too! Haha.

The noodles were really springy, and the broth had tiny ice crystals, so it was refreshingly cold and lovely!

It had just the right amount of grated radish and wasabi, so the broth was not rich or greasy at all—just really refreshing and delicious!

The chicken breast was not dry at all; it was so tender and moist! Eaten with the noodles, it was a perfect summer treat, haha.

Spicy galbi rice bowl with a generous amount of meat
Next is the spicy galbi rice bowl! Again, there was really so much meat!! It came with black sesame salad, soup, jalapeños, and wasabi.

It looks so neat, right?! The galbi seasoning was spicy, and it was topped with egg yolk, scallions, and onion.

Give it a good mix! The seasoning ratio was spot-on, so it was not salty and tasted just right.

It does not look spicy at all, but it was surprisingly hot!? It was spicy by my low-spice-tolerance standards! My younger sibling, who likes spicy food, enjoyed it, haha. There were lots of onions and scallions, so they made a great combination and kept it from feeling greasy.

There was so much rice and meat that it made for a very filling meal! It is affordable, generous, and delicious, haha. Such a great-value restaurant!!
A filling meal with lots of menu choices
First of all, I love that there are so many menu options, so you can order a variety of things. The prices are affordable, and most of all, the food tastes really good, haha. It is a restaurant everyone, young or old, would enjoy! Even at these prices, it does not taste like instant food—it tastes properly cooked, so I am always satisfied whenever I visit!
