Suwon beef omakase with a wine flight pairing: 450g set at Woowine

In short

Woowine (우와인) is a beef omakase restaurant near City Hall Station in Suwon, Gyeonggi, whose name joins "u" (beef) and wine. The blogger had the Woowine Selection Set (450g) with a 3-wine flight per person, with staff grilling four cuts (sirloin, tenderloin, chuck flap and flat iron), then finished with scallion Chapaghetti and strawberry sherbet. The wine pairing at Woowine was so satisfying that forgetting the corkage bottle turned out to be lucky, making it a strong pick for an anniversary date.

If you're looking for a beef omakase with some atmosphere in Suwon, please remember Woowine, the place I'm introducing today! It worked well as an anniversary date spot, and also as a place to visit ahead of a special day.

Where is Woowine, and is there parking?

Woowine exterior and surroundings

Woowine is a beef omakase restaurant near City Hall Station in Suwon. As the name ("u" for cow + wine) suggests, it's a place that recommends enjoying your beef with wine. It's close to City Hall Station, so walking there is no trouble. If you're coming by car, I hear you can park in the building's underground lot, so feel free to drive.

How do you book a table at Woowine?

Woowine reservation information

You can easily book Woowine through Naver or Catch Table. Because it's an omakase, visiting without a reservation is hard, so I recommend booking first! If you have an anniversary or special day, it's best to lock in your date early.

Is Woowine's atmosphere good for a date?

Woowine interior with a big screen at every table

The first thing I noticed walking into Woowine was the grand big screen at every table. The scenery on it changes too, which adds some visual fun.

Woowine has a refined feel, so it's great for a special date.

Woowine table where staff grill the beef in front of you

Rather than a hushed, tense silence, it had an open atmosphere where you can chat naturally with the staff member grilling in front of you. The staff would start conversations and carefully asked about doneness and preferences, which made it even easier to relax. The unstuffy mood made the food taste even better, I think!! haha

What we ordered at Woowine

Woowine menu and 3-wine flight information

That day at Woowine we ordered the Woowine Selection Set (450g) and the 3-wine flight (per person). The Selection Set lets you try a variety of cuts, so I'd especially recommend it to first-timers at an omakase.

How is the Woowine Selection Set course served?

Clear beef soup and the 4-item platter

Clear beef soup served to start the course

The Woowine course starts with a clear beef soup before the main beef arrives. The broth was rich and worked well as an appetizer. It's so good you'll want to drop rice into it.

4-item platter of tuna tataki, yukhoe, hwajeon and potato gamtae fritter

Next comes the 4-item platter. It had tuna tataki, yukhoe (Korean beef tartare), hwajeon (flower pancake) and a potato and gamtae (seaweed) fritter, and it looked so pretty it put me in a good mood. If you send the restaurant a photo beforehand, they'll put it on the platter too. I think it would make a special day even more special!

Tuna tataki, the standout of the 4-item platter

Of the four, the tuna tataki really stood out. The texture kept its grain yet melted softly in the mouth. My expectations shot up from the very first plating haha

What's in Woowine's 3-wine flight?

Woowine's wine flight has three wines, from light to hard, full-bodied styles, and the staff explained them well. It was fun picking and sipping to your taste.

The four beef cuts in the Selection Set

Four grilled cuts: sirloin, tenderloin, chuck flap and flat iron

The main beef came in four cuts: sirloin, tenderloin, chuck flap (salchi) and flat iron (buchae)! A staff member grilled it to the doneness we wanted, and it came out exactly as we liked. Both the meat quality and the marbling were amazing ❤️

Side dishes that go well with the beef come out too.

Wasabi with roe as a side

In particular, the wasabi served alongside had roe in it, adding a pop of texture when you chew. A fun combination.

Why we chose the wine flight over corkage at Woowine

Pairing wine with beef at Woowine made every single bite feel special, and I think I'll remember it for quite a while. Actually, I left behind the wine I'd packed for corkage, and I ended up thinking it was good that I did. That's how much I'd recommend the 3-wine flight!!

Are Woowine's scallion Chapaghetti and dessert worth trying?

I was already full from the meat, but I'd read that the scallion Chapaghetti (Chapaghetti is Korean black bean instant noodles) was good, so I ordered it. When I tried to film a video, the staff member opened it up for me, such great sense haha

Scallion Chapaghetti ordered as the closing meal

It's slightly spicy like Sichuan-style Chapaghetti, so it was a good finishing meal. And the kimchi served with it was seriously delicious, so do order the scallion Chapaghetti!! Highly recommended.

House-made strawberry sherbet for dessert

After you finish the Chapaghetti, a house-made strawberry sherbet comes out as dessert. Ending cool and sweet raised my satisfaction even more ❤️

Verdict: Woowine is where we'd return for an anniversary date

I visited Woowine on a non-anniversary day and was this satisfied, so on a special day it would have felt even more special. Honestly, I made up my mind to come back for our next anniversary, no question.

If you're looking for beef omakase in Suwon, and especially if you're a couple with an anniversary coming up, I really recommend Woowine ❤️ You get the food quality, the staff's attentive service and a comfortable atmosphere all in one place. It can surely make a special day even more special, so please make a reservation and visit!
