I was trying to figure out where to eat meat in Ingye-dong and ended up at Jipbul Taebaek! It's a great spot if you want to eat meat properly near Nahyeseok-gil. Recommending it to you all as a solid BBQ spot!

Where is Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch, and how do you get there?
This is the entrance to Jipbul Taebaek! A big sign right on the front made it easy to spot, haha. When I went in the evening there were already quite a few customers inside, so it seemed like a popular place for meat.

Jipbul Baekban Jeongsik: the 14,000 won weekday lunch set
Out front there was a menu board where you could see everything at a glance. On weekdays, Monday through Friday from 11:30 AM to 3 PM, they also sell a Jipbul Baekban Jeongsik (fire-roasted set meal) for ₩14,000. Looked like a good option not just for BBQ but for a proper lunch too!

What banchan and self-serve ssam bar items come with the meal?
As soon as I sat down, a full spread of banchan (side dishes) was laid out, and I was already sold ♥ Japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), muchim (seasoned vegetables), namul, salad — there was so much variety my chopsticks got busy before the meat even arrived. Salt and wasabi to pair with the meat were also ready, so I could mix and match to my taste.

There was also a separate self-serve bar. Lettuce and perilla leaves for wraps, garlic, chili peppers, kimchi, and ssamjang were all there, so I could easily grab more of whatever ran low. As someone who eats a lot of wrap veggies with meat, this kind of self-serve bar is amazing, haha.

The bracken fern and kimchi that came as default banchan were tasty on their own, but grilling them on the pan turned them into a whole different treat. Kimchi and bracken fern lightly seared in the meat drippings — I just can't resist that!

Thick pre-seared meat grilled by the staff
The meat comes out nicely pre-grilled, haha.

Finally, the meat I'd been waiting for showed up ♥ Thick cuts of meat that looked amazing from the first glance. Watching it sizzle away on the grill made my mouth water instantly. It was thick enough that being cut into bite-sized pieces before grilling made each bite really satisfying.

The way the surface turned golden brown as it cooked looked especially delicious. On one side of the grill, kimchi, bracken fern and mushrooms were also being grilled, so there was fun in mixing and matching them with the meat. Usually when you grill meat yourself, you're too busy flipping and cutting to actually enjoy eating it, but with staff grilling from start to finish, it was so much more relaxing.

Eating it with salt, wasabi and onion
Well-grilled meat first went straight into the salt! That let me enjoy the pure flavor of the meat cleanly, and it also went well with a bit of wasabi on top. Cut into thick bite-sized pieces, the texture was really satisfying too, haha.

Once eating just meat started to feel a bit heavy, pairing it with kimchi reset everything! Putting meat and kimchi together on top of onion added a crunchy, spicy kick, and the combo was great. I tried a bunch of combinations while taking photos, and every single one worked perfectly with the meat.

Finishing with kimchi stew full of big meat chunks
I was craving something spicy and hot, so I ordered the kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), and it had several big chunks of meat in it — a great pairing with the kimchi. Eating only meat can feel a bit empty, but having hot broth in between made the meal much more filling. The red broth was bubbling away, perfect for spooning up between bites of meat. Add rice on top and it felt like a proper full meal!
Who is Jipbul Taebaek, an Ingye-dong BBQ spot in Suwon, best for?
With generous meat, a variety of banchan, and a self-serve bar, this is a place you can really fill up at, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good BBQ spot in Ingye-dong or a place for a date or company dinner there. If you love meat, Jipbul Taebaek is a great choice for a hearty meal ♥
