Bojeong-dong BBQ restaurant Saturday lunch: brisket B Set at Rustic

In short

Rustic Smokehouse Yongin Bojeong Branch is an American BBQ and pasta restaurant in a residential area across from the Bojeong-dong café street in Yongin, Gyeonggi. On a Saturday lunch, the writer and her husband shared the ₩42,000 B Set (140g pulled pork, 130g brisket and ragu cheese pasta), and the rich ragu cheese pasta, tender brisket that wasn't dry and generous fries stood out. With the A Set for two starting at ₩26,000, Rustic Smokehouse is a good-value BBQ set spot, but expect full parking and a packed dining room on weekends.

What is Rustic Smokehouse Yongin Bojeong Branch?

Rustic Smokehouse Yongin Bojeong Branch (러스틱스모크하우스 용인보정점) is an American BBQ place in the residential area across from the Bojeong-dong café street, and it sells pasta too. I went to the café street for a date with my husband for the first time in a while, and this was where we picked for lunch.

It isn't on the main café street itself but on the residential side across the road, so it felt quieter. You can get proper American BBQ and pasta in the same place, which makes it a nice spot for a date meal.

Is there parking at Rustic Smokehouse on weekends?

There's room for roughly 5 cars in front of the restaurant, but it was already full when we arrived for Saturday lunch. So we circled the area for about 10 minutes.

Finding parking in Bojeong-dong on weekends isn't easy, and I couldn't see any open spot for a long while. Luckily one opened up right in front of the restaurant and we finally parked. If you drive, allow plenty of time and arrive a bit early, or use the public parking lot near the café street.

Saturday lunch reservations and the dining room

The restaurant was full from 12 to 1 on Saturday. We had booked by phone, but when we arrived there was no reservation under our name. I worried we'd have no seat at Saturday lunchtime, but exactly one table happened to be free, so we sat down.

Several tables were families out for a meal or group gatherings. A few tables emptied at the same time, so I grabbed a quick photo in that gap.

The whole place uses wood tones and is neatly kept. The tables weren't cramped, and it was quite comfortable overall. Cowboy hats hang here and there, along with props that evoke the American West. It felt like being in Texas. I've never been to Texas, though, haha.

High chairs and the self-serve bar

Rustic Smokehouse has high chairs and a self-bar. If you run low on sauce while eating, you can get more there. Sliced onions are also set out, so you can take as much as you want to eat with the meat. BBQ sauce is provided separately too.

While looking over the self-bar, I also spotted shrimp chips. But we found them just as we were leaving, so sadly we didn't get to try them.

Rustic Smokehouse menu and set prices

The sets are the A Set for 2 people at ₩26,000, the B Set for 3 people at ₩42,000, and the C Set for 2.5 people at ₩37,000.

  • A SET · TWO MEAT BBQ, 2 people, ₩26,000: 140g pulled pork + 130g brisket, sides of French fries / coleslaw / 4 buns
  • B SET · TWO BBQ + PASTA, 3 people, ₩42,000: choice of 140g pulled pork + 130g brisket or 400g baby back ribs, choice of 1 pasta, sides of French fries / coleslaw / 4 buns
  • C SET · RUSTIC SIGNATURE SET, 2.5 people, ₩37,000: 1 BBQ + 1 pasta + 1 side

When I first saw the set prices, I thought I'd misread them. The A Set is for 2 people but says ₩26,000, so at first I assumed it was a per-person price. These days a BBQ platter for two usually means budgeting ₩50,000–60,000, so a 2-person set at ₩26,000 is great value.

How we ordered the B Set

B Set BBQ platter and ragu cheese pasta

We ordered the B Set: 140g pulled pork, 130g brisket and ragu cheese pasta, plus one extra Coke Zero. Lots of reviews said the pasta is really good, so we decided to get pasta too and chose the B Set.

Is the ragu cheese pasta too rich?

The ragu cheese pasta that came out first

Rustic Smokehouse's ragu cheese pasta has plenty of cheese, but thanks to the pepper aroma it wasn't as heavy as I expected. The ragu cheese pasta came out first.

Lifting up the ragu cheese pasta noodles

When I lifted the noodles, the cheese and ragu sauce clung to them, so the sauce was quite thick.

Pasta thickly coated in cheese and ragu sauce

It's a pasta with a lot of cheese, so at first I thought it might be a bit heavy, but it wasn't what I expected. A subtle pepper note balanced the weight of the cheese, so it wasn't as rich as I'd imagined.

Close-up of the thick, gooey ragu cheese pasta

It had the meaty depth of ragu, and the thick, gooey cheese blended well with the noodles, so the pasta itself had a real presence. I went in thinking this was a BBQ place, but the pasta was pretty good too.

BBQ platter: portion size and what's included

The BBQ platter was more generous than I expected for a single plate.

Along with the pulled pork and brisket, the platter came with dinner rolls, coleslaw, French fries and sauce. The amount of fries was especially big.

They're piled high on one side, and it was plenty even for two people. With a beer, the fries alone looked like enough of a snack to go with it.

Making pulled pork sandwiches with dinner rolls

I split a dinner roll in half, put coleslaw in first, then topped it with pulled pork and sauce to make a sandwich. The roll was soft and fluffy and went well with the meat.

The pulled pork shreds tenderly along the grain, so it was easy to tuck between the bread. With crunchy coleslaw added, you get the richness of the meat and the fresh texture of the vegetables together. Adding the sauce made it taste different from eating the meat alone.

Is the brisket dry?

Rustic Smokehouse's brisket was tender, and even I, who don't really like brisket, enjoyed it quite a bit. Honestly, I'm not much of a brisket person, because more places than you'd think serve brisket that feels a little dry.

But the brisket here was tender. It had that smoky flavor of smoked meat, and with the sauce the clean taste of the meat came through even better.

Are the Rustic Smokehouse sets good value?

For an American BBQ platter, you often have to budget ₩50,000–60,000 for two, but here the A Set is ₩26,000 for 2 people. The B Set, pasta included, is ₩42,000 for 3 people, so it's good for sharing if you visit in a group.

And it isn't just cheap; the portions were genuinely generous. The pulled pork and brisket were tender, and with pasta as well it made a pretty filling meal. If you like American BBQ, of course, but also if you want pasta with it, the set menu is quite practical. If you're meeting friends or on a date in Bojeong-dong and want something a little different, it's worth a stop.
