Fig and blueberry yogurt salt bread at Bakerist Brown, Gangnam café
In short
Bakerist Brown is a bakery café near Exit 6 of Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam, Seoul, with seating from the basement to the third floor plus an outdoor terrace. On a solo lunchtime visit, the writer tried fig wakppu salt bread and blueberry yogurt wakppu salt bread for the first time, ordered a salt cream coffee for 7,800 won and picked up a boxed healthy sand set as a gift. The wakppu salt breads were less sweet than expected and went well with an iced americano, and the healthy sand's box packaging made it easy to give away.

Reviewing Bakerist Brown, which I visited near Sinnonhyeon Station thanks to a great opportunity. It was close to Exit 6 of Sinnonhyeon Station. If you're coming from Gangnam Station, Exit 11 is closer!

I'd actually been to this Sinnonhyeon bakery, Bakerist Brown, once before with a friend! I remember eating a really delicious madeleine and salt bread that time... my friend praised it too, saying it was so good.

What is Bakerist Brown like inside?
Bakerist Brown feels almost like a regular house that's been beautifully decorated. It's the kind of bakery café that's easy to just walk into! With the fall weather these days, it's really a great time to go to a café!

Salt cream coffee for 7,800 won
Here's the drink menu! I ordered the salt cream coffee that was recommended to me. Next time I want to try the black sesame latte. It had been a while since I did solo café time — I timed it well so there weren't too many people. Last time I went, there was nowhere to sit 🫠 The salt cream coffee costs ₩7,800.

Can you find a seat at Bakerist Brown alone?
Bakerist Brown has a ton of seating. Basement, floors 1, 2, 3, and the outdoor terrace. This is the general feel, so just find a good spot and sit down! Plenty of seats and a great vibe for solo café time. I actually saw a lot of people who came alone!

How do you choose bread at Bakerist Brown?
Grab a plate and tongs next to the bread, pick whatever you want to eat, then head to the register! The plates are a bit heavy so be careful!

They used to have madeleines in every flavor, but when I asked, I was told madeleines are a seasonal menu item now. So disappointing, since I love madeleines, ugh. I visited around 12–1pm, and since a lot of people had already come and gone, the bread was really running low!

You'd probably need to come earlier to see the shelves fully stocked with crumble pie, financiers, sweet pumpkin pie, and more!

There are so many kinds of bread too — egg tarts, mille-feuille, and more. The bear-shaped pastry loaf is so cute! I'd seen it before and it's still around. Also, the restroom is inside the café — having it indoors is a real plus!

First taste of wakppu salt bread: fig and blueberry yogurt
I'd been wanting to try wakppu salt bread, and Bakerist Brown had it right there! Fig wakppu salt bread and blueberry yogurt wakppu salt bread, coated in chocolate on top — isn't the color just gorgeous?

This place is known for its salt bread. I had the crème brûlée version before and it was delicious. Because I already knew their salt bread was great, I felt confident trying the wakppu version too. There was also a chocolate kadaif wakppu salt bread, but it looked way too sweet, so I passed!

Healthy sand comes boxed as a gift set
They also had cake and crumble healthy sand, so I ordered the healthy sand too! It's sold as a set, so if there's leftover I planned to share with family!

Here's everything I bought — so pretty, right! It was packed so nicely that it looked even more delicious ✨

How did the wakppu salt bread taste?
You're supposed to break wakppu salt bread apart with your hands, but I just cut it with a knife and fork. Honestly, I think it's bound to look like this either way. But it was so delicious! I wish it had more fruit inside, but it wasn't as sweet as I expected. I think it would go perfectly with iced americano!
The healthy sand would also make a great gift. If you buy the set, they pack it beautifully in a box like this! The sand itself is a cookie that melts in your mouth, so delicious, and the cream inside felt really high-quality — I think it would make a lovely gift for older relatives too!
