Gwangalli pizza restaurant date night with pickled peppers: Extra Mile

I braved the heat wave again with my boyfriend to visit a Gwangalli restaurant we'd been wanting to try. Extra Mile!

A house with a yard, 7 minutes from Suyeong Station

Walk about 7 minutes from Suyeong Station Exit 5 and a pretty house with a front yard.ᐟ appears — Extra Mile. I was already won over by the exterior before even stepping in.

Inside, it's a bright, natural wood-toned interior.

Windows all around gave the space an open feel, and the natural light let in kept the atmosphere lively and pleasant.

Two-tops, four-tops and counter seats at Extra Mile

Seating was made up of two-top and four-top tables, and

there was even counter seating, which you rarely see at an Italian restaurant.ᐟ That meant solo travelers visiting Gwangalli in Busan, couples, families, and groups of friends could all enjoy Extra Mile comfortably. And best of all, the plants placed throughout are so my style 𝗓 ᶻ

We were seated at a two-top. Just sitting there, the place was so pretty, so cool, and playing such refreshing pop music — it was genuinely so healing.☘︎ ݁˖

While waiting for the food, there was also the small pleasure of coloring on the paper tablecloth. A Busan seagull my boyfriend colored in.

Extra Mile's sets are the Classic Combo (2-person set) at ₩42,000 with 1 pizza + 1 pasta, and the Extra Combo (3–4 person set) at ₩68,000 with 1 pizza + 2 pasta + 1 side. Pasta is ₩18,000 and pizza is a flat ₩26,000.

Half-and-half pizza: hot honey pepperoni and potato

What we picked was Extra Mile's hot honey pepperoni-potato half-and-half pizza.

How is the hot honey pepperoni?

It's genuinely so good, what am I supposed to do haha; it's a flavor unlike anything I've had before. Extra Mile's house-made chili honey sauce, pickled peppers, and ricotta-mascarpone cream cheese = an unreal combination. How did they even come up with this. Don't think of a plain old pepperoni pizza. It's spicy-sweet and incredibly compelling and addictive, so if you go to Extra Mile, a Gwangalli Italian favorite, definitely order this.

How is the potato pizza?

Potato pizza meets truffle oil.ᐟ This was also a totally unusual combination. And rather than a wedge-potato style, it's a base of thinly sliced potato topped with crispy shredded potato. The potato pizza — a familiar pizza reworked in Extra Mile's own style — was also delicious.

What does the bisque cream pasta taste like?

Honestly the pizza was already shockingly good, but Extra Mile's bisque cream pasta was even more shocking.

I've genuinely never had pasta like this before. The moment I took a bite I thought, what is this flavor — is that shrimp innards..? The richness is no joke. The deep, creamy taste of red shrimp, done exactly right.

Of course, if you don't like that rich, innard-like flavor, you might not be into it, but I'm very much a fan, so I enjoyed it down to the very last bite. It comes with grilled gamtae seaweed too, which is exactly my style. Seafood lovers, innard lovers — please order this pasta.

Is Extra Mile worth a visit? Final verdict

Thanks to Superchart I got to discover Extra Mile, and it made for such a happy day .☘︎ ݁˖ I'll definitely be back on my own dime next time.

TMI — the fourth spot after Jeonpo's Free Will Pizza

While checking Extra Mile's Instagram to write this review, I saw a post saying "our brand's fourth location," and got curious about where the other three were¿¡ Turns out it follows Jeonpo's Free Will Pizza, Pickles, and Upper East Bakery, with Gwangalli as the newest addition.

I mean, who hasn't been to those three places in Jeonpo? I was seriously, seriously shocked to find out they're the same brand ㅠ (I already knew about Free Will Pizza and Pickles, but still). And here I was eating the potato pizza comparing Free Will Pizza vs. Extra Mile without even knowing. Free Will Pizza and Upper East are even places I go back to on my own dime~~~ (all three have a clear concept and are genuinely great). So no wonder Extra Mile didn't fall short in either interior or taste. Anyway, I basically ended up praising it to the skies, but I recommend it.
