Mangwon café in Seoul for sunlit photos: black latte at PICT Roastery

In short

PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is a specialty roastery café in Mangwon, Mapo-gu, Seoul, one floor below Grizen on Worldcup-ro 23-gil. On a weekday at 3pm the writer had the aged French toast (11,900 won), a café latte (5,500 won) and a black latte (6,500 won), and the sunlight at the bar table made for filter-free photos. The black latte with hazelnut and macadamia, plus the sunny bar table, are what make PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch worth the visit.

Where to find PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch: the floor below grizen

PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is at 45 Worldcup-ro 23-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the ground-level floor below grizen (그리젠). You can't see it straight from the street, so you have to find the entrance and head down.

PICT is on the floor below grizen, so keep that in mind! Go in through the entrance in the right-hand photo and walk down the stairs!

Specialty beans roasted in-house every week

PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is a place to enjoy specialty coffee roasted in-house every week. You can pick the beans to suit your taste. They've recently added a Kyoto matcha latte, too. They keep developing new menu items and post updates on Naver News right away, so check there!

Freshly roasted beans are sold in the shop in 200g, 500g and 1kg sizes. I heard they recommend them for a home café or as gifts!

Interior and seating: is laptop work okay?

Inside, there's a wide, varied mix of seats: 2-person tables, 4-person tables and a solo bar table! (Groups of 1 to 10 are possible.)

One thing I liked: the space gets lovely natural light and has power outlets, so it seems great for coming to work on a laptop.

There are photo spots(?) all over, which made me personally very happy. You can feel the owner's care for the interior everywhere as you take pictures. Today is the day I change my profile picture!

Unisex restroom inside the café

The restroom is unisex and inside the café. You can really tell they put a lot of care into it too, which I loved!

Aged French toast and black latte: what I ordered

At PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch I ordered the aged French toast (₩11,900), a café latte (iced, nutty) for ₩5,500 and a black latte (iced, nutty) for ₩6,500.

Dessert photo taken with natural light only

With no color correction and not a single filter, the natural light alone gave me gorgeous dessert photos. Pro tip: take your photos facing the bar-table light!

Sugar-coated aged French toast

Aged French toast ₩11,900

The aged French toast has a sugar-coated top that makes it feel like crème brûlée. (Crisp outside and soft like pudding inside is its signature texture.) A moderate sweetness is even better eaten together with coffee.

It was full of egg soaked through, and it cut easily with a knife. Maybe because it's aged, there was no time to chew; it just melted in my mouth haha

Café latte (iced, nutty) ₩5,500

A coffee with a clean finish. You can choose the beans (acidic or nutty), and it comes in PICT's cute mug. I heard the mug lineup changes monthly or quarterly, so you can get a different cup every visit!

Black latte (iced, nutty) ₦6,500

It tasted more of nuts than a café latte, nutty and smooth. The main ingredients are hazelnut, macadamia, milk and espresso, and I'd recommend it to anyone who loves the nutty richness.

The bar-table light, and the day I finally changed my profile photo

The light was so pretty that taking selfies with the toast was a joy haha. I usually enjoy nutty coffee anyway, and it was nice to have a clean, relaxed nutty cup.

I ended up changing my KakaoTalk profile photo that day haha. Promise to take pictures for you at the PICT bar table~

Café seat with sunlight at 3pm on a weekday

3pm on a weekday is warm and happy. PICT, which used to be in Magongnaru, has made a fresh start in Mangwon! So I highly, highly, highly recommend it as a Mangwon Station café. (I received a small benefit for this visit, but I mean every word.) Next time I'll try other desserts!
