Jongno 3-ga pizza restaurant, quiet before 5pm: Backstreet Pizza

Today I'm introducing a pizza place I found while out and about near Jongno 3-ga!

Where is Backstreet Pizza? How far into the Jongno pub street alley

This is Backstreet Pizza, and you have to walk in a fair bit from the Jongno pub street area! It's located near a cluster of love motels, so unless you're specifically heading there, it's tucked so deep in the alleys that it seemed pretty hard to find, ugh.

It's on the basement floor, and these stairs are really steep!!! You could seriously have a few pizzas and beers here and then trip going back up, so hold onto your senses when going up and down 🙄

Inside Backstreet Pizza before 5pm: atmosphere and seating

The interior is pretty dim and there are lots of seats! We went before 5pm so the store was really quiet, which meant I could comfortably take interior photos haha

The interior has a strong antique, vintage vibe! Am I back in medieval Europe...? You do you, I'll do me, ha

and the sides are fries, buffalo wings, and cheese balls — but why is everything written in English ㅠㅠ haha, I really am back in Europe I guess 😮

There's a self bar set up too, stocked with water, cups, wet wipes, tissues, hot sauce, and parmesan powder — help yourself if you need any!

Since there were no other customers, we grabbed both the parmesan and hot sauce ahead of time haha. We ordered the Quarter Street pizza and two drinks — it clearly said 'zero' on the drink menu, so I ordered a Tom's Orange, but after drinking it I found out Tom's Orange isn't actually zero-sugar,, I only drink zero-sugar soda, seriously ㅡㅡ they really need to fix that labeling 😑

How did the four Quarter Street pizza flavors taste?

The Quarter Street pizza came out fast! The quarter includes four types of pizza — Shrimp Gangster, Cheese & Patty Bomb, Potato Killer, and Pepperoni Shotgun

The inside was so dim that the photos weren't coming out well, so these are with my partner's help using flash haha. The visuals are amazing!!😁

Potato Killer

What I'm holding is the Potato Killer, a pizza piled high with french fries!

The crispy fries piled on top gave it an amazing salty flavor, and the savory cheese paired really well!haha It's the kind of flavor that makes you think of beer right away😋

I just wanted a photo of the pizza being lifted up, but he kept raising it higher and higher,, how high are you going to go?ㅠ At the end of this video I finally said no, just take the photo already! and only then did he finally understand and take it,, my partner, a real comedian

Pepperoni Shotgun

This one clearly looks like the Pepperoni Shotgun, right? Needless to say, salty and classic — the textbook pizza flavor!! It's a taste I know well so I ate it comfortably haha

They also give you garlic dipping sauce and jalapeños & pickles — I accidentally ate a jalapeño and got properly wrecked by the spice

I also sprinkled on the parmesan powder generously~~ and used the hot sauce too, but I was too hungry to film it, hahaha

Cheese & Patty Bomb

This one seems to be the Cheese & Patty Bomb — the description said it tastes like a cheeseburger, but honestly I couldn't quite tell that, it just tasted like bulgogi pizza to me,,ha Still delicious though!!

Shrimp Gangster

This one is the Shrimp Gangster, and the shrimp were plump and delicious — the springy texture added a nice bounce with every bite, and paired really well with the savory cheese for amazing flavor haha

What was disappointing at Backstreet Pizza

It was delicious, but even though this was pizza served fresh right out of the kitchen, it wasn't hot at all,, and the cheese firmed up not long after too😢 The staff were kind and the pizza flavor itself was really good, but the temperature of the food was a real letdown😶
