It had been a while since I took my kid out for a bit of culture and a change of scenery, so we went on a Daehangno outing date^^ We had a blast watching a play and playing around, and pretty soon we got hungry, so while wondering where to eat, we ended up at Omil, a pasta restaurant in Hyehwa that's been getting a lot of buzz lately~ The interior had such a lovely, tidy vibe, and on top of that there was a special signature menu item that was a perfect match for my kid's taste, so I was really excited even before we walked in^^ Here's my honest review of the happy time we spent enjoying the unique gochujang butter pasta and the adorable omurice with my kid!

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is on the 2nd floor of 35 Daemyeong-gil, Jongno-gu, in a cute little alley not far from the main strip of Daehangno. After a fun outing with my kid in Daehangno, we headed to this quietly tucked-away pasta restaurant, Omil, for a good dinner^^

Since it's located not far from the main Daehangno area, the route was perfect for walking over slowly with my kid after watching a play or an exhibition~ From the entrance, the warm, atmospheric exterior gave us a welcoming feeling that lifted my mood before we even stepped inside^^

It felt like a special space that could perfectly satisfy both my taste for pasta and my kid's love of cute-styled food, so I opened the door feeling even more excited!

Inside Omil Hyehwa Daehangno: interior, atmosphere and sitting down with a child

The inside of Omil Hyehwa Daehangno was a clean, modern space with no clutter, paired with warm-toned lighting. The tables were spaced generously, so it was nice to have a quiet meal with my kid. As soon as we stepped inside, the clean, modern interior caught my eye right away^^ The warm lighting combined with the neatly arranged tables created a cozy, charming atmosphere~

The space itself was very clean and carefully maintained hygienically, so I could relax and settle in with my kid without any worry! Thanks to the sensible interior and pretty props, every spot made for great photos, so we took several memorial shots together^^

The tables were also generously spaced apart, so it was a wonderful place to enjoy a comfortable, quiet meal without any crowding~ I instantly understood why it's gotten so much word of mouth as a date spot!

How do the rubber duck omurice and gochujang butter pasta taste?

My kid ordered Omil's signature rubber duck omurice, and I ordered the gochujang butter pasta, which promised a spicy-sweet flavor^^ When the dishes arrived, both of us gasped at how gorgeous they looked!

The gochujang butter pasta I ordered also boasted a unique, deep, appealing flavor!

The sharp, spicy kick of the gochujang and the smooth, savory richness of the butter blended together perfectly, with zero greasiness — it went down so easily^^

True to a solid Hyehwa pasta spot, the noodles were cooked exactly right, and I enjoyed every last bite!

My kid's rubber duck omurice (fried rice topped with a thin egg sheet) came with an adorable yellow duck-shaped egg topping that had my kid so thrilled^^

The combination of the soft, fluffy egg and the savory fried rice was pure art, and my kid cleaned the whole plate~

Sides at Omil: truffle fries and zero-sugar cola

At Omil Hyehwa Daehangno, we ordered truffle fries and zero-sugar cola on the side. We added them to make the meal feel even richer alongside the mains^^ The freshly fried, hot truffle fries hit us with a subtle, rich truffle aroma the moment they arrived, really stirring up our appetite! The crispy texture combined with a savory, salty flavor made them a perfect match with the pasta and omurice~

My kid was also won over by the fries' crispy texture, reaching for more without stopping^^ Sipping a refreshing, fizzy zero-sugar cola in between cleared the palate nicely, so we never got tired of it and could keep enjoying the hearty meal all the way through!

Omil Hyehwa Daehangno was a western restaurant that suited us well for dinner with my kid after a Daehangno outing. The staff's warm smiles and attentive service, the atmospheric space, and the creative, delicious dishes — everything about this pasta restaurant, Omil, in Hyehwa made for a satisfying meal^^

From the rubber duck omurice that instantly won my kid's heart with its cute duck look, to the spicy-savory gochujang butter pasta, and the fragrant truffle fries — each dish gave us unforgettable, happy flavor memories~ On the way home, my kid kept bringing up the duck-shaped omurice and asked several times to come back next time we're in Daehangno^^
