Walking from Gyeongbokgung Station to Oldsse Seochon

Oldsse Seochon is a hanok (traditional Korean house) café you find after passing Gyeongbokgung Station and turning into the Seochon alleys. The weather's been so perfect for a walk lately that my boyfriend and I were trying to figure out where to go, and we ended up heading toward Seochon!

We're always wandering around Seongsu, and honestly the crowded air there wears me out. Walking through this cozy, unhurried Seochon instead put me in such a good mood ㅠㅠ ❤️

Of all the places we saw, this café was my favorite!! Oldsse Seochon. The way the trees hung down was so pretty, and even the fabric poster that just said 'CAFE' was lovely. 🩷🩷 There were outdoor seats too, not many, but they looked perfect for sitting down for a quick rest while passing by, and the indoor seating was even cozier and cleaner — really pretty..💗

This is the vibe once you step inside — this is the ordering counter. How do they keep the plants so healthy? The lush greenery made me love the space even more.

Oldsse Seochon's interior was genuinely a style I'd never seen at any independent café I've visited. Where else can you find a mood like this? It has a slightly African feel to it.. but somehow it went so well with the hanok that it was just beautiful ㅠㅠ

They were also selling stickers and tumblers, and the pattern on the tumblers was so cute I ended up browsing for a long while. The tumbler colors were gorgeous too.!!

Specialty coffee and the roasting room at Oldsse Seochon

Since Oldsse Seochon sells specialty coffee, they had several pieces of pour-over equipment set up. This too had such a nice atmosphere and looked pretty. (There was even a bean roasting room inside!!)

But in the roughly hour-plus we were there, I didn't see anyone order pour-over coffee — everyone seemed to be drinking iced Americano! We ordered iced Americano too, but I'll have to come back and try the specialty coffee next time!

Seen from the front it looks like this — I wonder if they painted the mural in the back themselves, because it's a mood I'd never seen before, which made it look even prettier!! It had an Ancient Egypt kind of feel, and if you look closely the little cream-colored figures are cute one by one haha

And this hanok rafter ceiling suited the space better than I expected. Keeping the wooden roof was so pretty — I sipped my coffee imagining what kind of house used to stand on this spot long ago. And if you look closely, this red fabric lamp didn't look store-bought — it seemed handmade, and it was such a perfectly matched piece❤️🔥

This photo of the wall lamp is so pretty😭 It's definitely a mood you can't get at home, which is exactly why a café like this feels so much more unique and beautiful than others!! A café with real charm..☕️

Oldsse Seochon's menu is posted on the hanok's wooden pillar, and even that had such tasteful charm!!

They also have a variety of pour-overs ready

There were two desserts plus coffee, and the signature einspänner looked really delicious too! Since it was hot around midday yesterday I was craving an iced Americano, so we ordered one coffee and one rooibos orange tea!

While waiting, we took a moment to look at the scenery outside! The view was so, so pretty that it genuinely lifted my mood. There were also a ton of huge windows, and since the weather was nice they were left open, so the breeze drifting in felt great too!

How do the iced Americano and rooibos orange tea taste?

Our drinks finally arrived. And the cups — why are they so pretty too 😭😭 They matched the space perfectly! The iced Americano had no sourness at all, tasting like a really clean, textbook cup of coffee — the kind of bean flavor Koreans tend to like across the board, no strong likes or dislikes!

And the rooibos orange tea had no sweetness at all — just a refreshing orange aroma over the rooibos base. No caffeine either, so it was a drink you could gulp down without any worry!!

Even the coaster under the drinks was so pretty, and the whole atmosphere just put me in such a good mood — this is a café I'd want to seek out again next time we come to Seochon for a date💗 It's already this pretty in early autumn, so I'm curious what mood it has in winter.

Why Oldsse Seochon works as a Seochon date café

Personally, I think a café's drinks obviously need to taste good, but the space and atmosphere also need their own character. That's why I prefer independent cafés with real personality over franchises, and in that sense, Oldsse Seochon feels like a genuinely rare find☕️☕️

I'm so satisfied to have found another beautiful new café this time! Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Seochon!
