Gwakji Beach black pork restaurant, 600g for ₩72,000: Nopo Dwaeji

Hi~ this is Sunny :)! When you're in Jeju, you inevitably start craving black pork at some point haha. This time, on the way to Aewol, I stopped by Nopo Dwaeji Aewol (노포돼지 애월) for some black pork!

We ordered the signature black pork geun-gogi (thick-cut pork) 600g for ₩72,000. The thick Jeju black pork was delicious, but the side dishes that came with it were just as good, so we left having had a really filling meal. Parking was easy too, and the location right on the way to Aewol made it a convenient stop on our trip :)!

Where Nopo Dwaeji Aewol is, and why it fits a Gwakji Beach day

Nopo Dwaeji Aewol is on Gwakji 9-gil in Aewol-eup, Jeju-si, so it's easy to stop by on your way to Aewol. When traveling in Jeju, location can quietly matter a lot. Even the best restaurant feels like a hassle to reach if it's far off your route, but Nopo Dwaeji Aewol sits right along the way to Aewol, so it wasn't hard to find.

If your itinerary includes Gwakji or Aewol, it's worth pairing with a meal here. Especially if you're looking for black pork near Gwakji Beach while moving through the surrounding travel course, the location felt really convenient.

I liked that parking at Nopo Dwaeji Aewol was easy. Since most people travel Jeju by rental car, being able to walk in for a meal without worrying about parking turned out to be a bigger plus than I expected haha.

At Nopo Dwaeji Aewol we ordered the signature black pork geun-gogi (thick-cut pork) 600g for ₩72,000.

Since we were in Jeju, we had to properly eat black pork haha. Geun-gogi is fun because you grill thick slabs of meat, and it's a menu I often seek out when I'm in Jeju.

Once the thick black pork hit the grill, the visual alone told me we were here for a proper meat feast!

As the meat gets close to done, the waiting feels the longest because you just want to eat it already haha. The well-cooked meat, paired with whatever sides you like, made for a hearty meal.

The side dishes at Nopo Dwaeji Aewol were good, so it was easy to switch between them and the meat. At a grill restaurant, the meat is the main event, but I care quite a bit about the side dishes too. Rather than just eating meat nonstop, alternating with other side dishes throughout keeps the meal tasty right to the end.

The side dishes at Nopo Dwaeji Aewol were tasty enough that my hand naturally kept reaching for them haha. Eating a bite of meat and then a side dish made for a great combo. When the side dishes are good, the whole meal feels a bit more put-together, and that day too, I was satisfied eating heartily alongside the meat.

What stood out during my visit was just how many customers there were. Jeju has so many black pork restaurants that it's hard to decide where to go, but seeing the place so packed made it clear right away that a lot of people come here.

What stuck with me in particular was how many families were there. There were couples and groups of friends too, but I saw a lot of families gathered around eating meat together.

Choosing what to eat can be surprisingly tricky on a family trip to Jeju, but black pork works well for a group, which is probably why so many families choose it for a meal.

There really were customers of all different ages eating together, so it felt like a natural place to visit with family :)!

If you're traveling around Aewol, you'll likely visit Gwakji Beach a lot too. After walking around and looking at the sea, you gradually get hungry, and heading off for black pork at that point seems like a pretty solid plan haha.

Spending time at the beach and then having a hearty meat meal before heading back toward Aewol seems like a solid way to plan the day.

Jeju has so much delicious food, but if you asked me to recommend just one thing to first-time visitors, black pork would almost always make the list. Even after visiting Jeju many times, whenever I crave meat, I naturally end up looking for black pork haha. Geun-gogi in particular lets you properly enjoy thick cuts, giving it a different appeal from regular grilled pork. So it's a great fit for anyone looking for black pork restaurants in Aewol, and honestly for anyone in Jeju who wants a proper meat meal.

Being right on the way to Aewol made it easy to find, and easy parking made it convenient for anyone touring Jeju by car.
