Summer team dinner with bibim-milmyeon at a Bangi-dong BBQ: Yukmong

Today I visited Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch, newly opened on Bangi Food Alley. The famous Korean BBQ chain Yukmong has finally landed in Jamsil! On a hot summer day like this, you want to go to a BBQ place but the thought of grilling over a hot pan can be a bit off-putting. But here, the staff grill the meat for you from start to finish, so I ate super comfortably!! Haha. Both the meat and the side dishes were so, so good! Here's my write-up of this Bangi-dong team dinner and Seokchon Lake date BBQ spot that left me really satisfied overall.

Newly opened and spotless inside

Since it just opened, everything from the building exterior to the interior and even the restroom was really clean. The restaurant is a large Korean BBQ place spanning three floors from basement to the 2nd floor,

On the 2nd floor especially there's a big open window wall, giving it a slightly more upscale, clean vibe...!

Basement rooms at Yukmong, from 2 people up to about 20

The basement floor is made up of rooms. Usually BBQ restaurant rooms can only be used by groups, but here even two people can reserve a room. If you want a more private meal for two, or it's a date, or an important meal, it seems worth booking a room in advance. Actually, when I visited, the rooms had the most guests. Since group bookings of up to about 20 people are possible too, this looks good for anyone looking for a Bangi-dong team dinner BBQ spot with a bigger group 👍

The 69,900-won Korean pork assorted set: how good is the meat?

The main dish we ordered was: ✔ Pork set ₩69,900 (pork belly + pork neck + skirt meat + doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) included) ✔ Honeycomb pork skin ✔ Caviar cheese egg custard ✔ Bibim-milmyeon (spicy mixed wheat noodles) Along with the meat, various garnishes like sweet pumpkin, potato, eggplant, and mushrooms came out too, making the grill pretty packed!

Staff grill every cut — the best part on a midsummer night

🔥The best thing about a BBQ place in summer is definitely having the staff grill everything for you!!! 👏👏 The friendly staff even asked if the doneness was okay, so I really just got to eat comfortably haha. My husband is usually the designated griller at team dinners and both sides of the family gatherings since he's good at it, so it was nice for him to be off duty for once and just chow down with me haha.

The meat was cut thick overall but still tender, and especially when you bit into it, the juices seemed locked right in — the ideal BBQ flavor itself 🥹 You get to enjoy several cuts at once, from pork belly to pork neck to skirt meat, so I'd recommend the set if you're visiting with two or more people!

Side dishes that fill the whole table

Another thing I liked was how the table was packed with banchan (side dishes)! Salted seafood, spicy radish salad, seaweed, pickled onion, shredded green onion, aged kimchi, pickled radish — the variety was really impressive. I kept switching up the combinations, so I never got tired of it, all the way to the end. That's a point that can't be missing haha.

But wait, even the side dishes are all this good?! The caviar cheese egg custard and the doenjang stew especially stuck with me.

My husband tried it first and then urged me, 'both of these are so good, hurry up and try them' — maybe because the ingredients were so rich, the broth had a real depth of flavor. The egg custard especially, with the savoriness of the cheese plus the caviar, definitely wasn't your everyday-looking dish.

After the pork, bibim-milmyeon and honeycomb pork skin

Last up: bibim-milmyeon and honeycomb pork skin! I really recommend the bibim-milmyeon, with its tangy-spicy, chewy noodles. It's a bit spicy for me since I'm weak with spice, but honestly it was better than expected, so much so that I seriously considered ordering the mul-milmyeon (cold noodle soup version) too. I'm normally a cold-noodle-soup person and I still keep thinking about the one I didn't get to try. I should've just ordered another bowl right then!!! (If anyone's tried the mul-milmyeon, I'd love to hear your review...) The pork skin also had nice scoring cuts and finished things off with a chewy texture, yum 😋 What a proper, satisfying meal — the lineup was insane 🔥 Ugh, but as I was eating I realized I'd been craving a drink and completely forgot that corkage was free, so I could've brought my own alcohol, darn it.

First of all, not having to grill the meat myself is already a win 🔥 Plus, everything I ordered — from the meat to the egg custard, the doenjang stew, to the milmyeon — was satisfying, which stuck with me even more. With free corkage, a clean atmosphere and private rooms, it works well for dates, family dinners, and important meals alike, and I'd recommend it as a Bangi-dong team dinner and group gathering spot where you can eat comfortably and chat with several people. We're planning to come back again 😊
