Sushi spot in Dasa, Daegu: seared beef sushi lunch for two, Mummum
In short
Mummum Dasa Branch (뭄뭄 다사점) is a Japanese sushi restaurant near Daesil Station in Dasa-eup, Dalseong, Daegu, serving sushi, rice bowls, udon and pasta. Over lunch with her husband, the writer ordered half salmon, half beef sushi (5 pieces each), a 10-piece assorted sushi set and spicy udon; the lightly seared beef sushi with a sweet sauce stood out, while the mitre squid in the assorted set was a little chewy. On a return visit to Mummum Dasa Branch, the beef sushi would be the first order.

Mummum Dasa Branch: a sushi lunch near Daesil Station
Mummum Dasa Branch (뭄뭄 다사점) is a sushi restaurant in Dasa-eup, Dalseong-gun, Daegu, near Daesil Station. I went for lunch with my husband a few days ago. We both wanted sushi, and since we had errands near Daesil Station, we picked Mummum for lunch. I like salmon sushi too, but the beef sushi I had that day was so good I'm still thinking about it, haha.

Inside Mummum Dasa Branch: is it good for dining alone?
The inside was roomier and tidier than I expected, and there are counter seats (dacci-seok) facing the kitchen, so coming alone for lunch would be fine. Big windows let in plenty of sunlight, and with the wood-tone interior and soft lighting, the whole place felt bright and cozy. There are regular tables too. Best of all, the tables aren't cramped and the place is kept really clean, which I liked.

What two of us ordered at Mummum Dasa Branch
The menu was more varied than I expected, from sushi to rice bowls, udon and pasta. There are bowls like steak-don and unagi-don (eel rice bowl), and you can pick your sushi to suit your taste. We ordered these three things:
- Salmon+beef sushi
- Assorted sushi
- Spicy udon
Two kinds of sushi plus spicy udon was just right for a lunch for two.

Is the seared beef sushi at Mummum Dasa Branch worth it?
The salmon+beef sushi is a half-and-half set with 5 pieces of salmon and 5 of beef. I love salmon sushi anyway, so it was tasty with no complaints. But the real star that day was the beef sushi!!
Wow, I didn't know beef sushi could be this good, haha. The lightly seared beef is topped with a sweet sauce, and the meat was tender and went so well with the rice. It was one of the best beef sushi I've ever had!!👍👍 My husband and I must have said "this beef sushi is so good" a few times while eating, haha. Next time I go back to Mummum Dasa Branch, I'm definitely ordering the beef sushi first.

Mummum Dasa Branch assorted sushi: what's included and the chewy squid
The assorted sushi has 10 pieces in total, including salmon, shrimp, squid, egg and fried tofu pouch (yubu), so you get a lot of types in one go. It's fun to pick through, and a good order when you don't want to stick to just one kind.
Overall it was decent and tasty, but personally the squid felt a little chewy. That was a small letdown, though the other pieces were fine. Still, to my taste the beef sushi was far better than the assorted set, hahaha!

Spicy udon alongside sushi at Mummum Dasa Branch
We ordered the spicy udon because sushi alone seemed like it might feel a bit lacking. It came in a big bowl with spicy broth, udon noodles and fish cake. The broth wasn't heavy or muddy, it was fairly clean, so it was nice to sip between pieces of sushi.
Especially after a bite of beef sushi, a spoonful of the spicy udon broth was a great combination. It's a good order when you want a warm soup dish alongside your sushi.

Is Mummum Dasa Branch worth a return lunch visit?
Mummum Dasa Branch is clean and has a varied menu, which made it great for lunch. It was our first sushi lunch together in a while! The food was decent overall, and the beef sushi in particular really stuck with me.
The chewy squid in the assorted sushi was a letdown, but the beef sushi alone makes me want to go again. Next time with my husband, I'll definitely order the beef sushi, and this time I'd like to try the rice bowls too. I went looking for a sushi place in Dasa and came back totally smitten with the beef sushi😋
