Atmosphere and seating at Extra Mile in Gwangalli

Extra Mile looks like a renovated detached house from the outside, with a wood-toned interior. Inside, it feels warm and cozy, with soft lighting and neatly arranged tables, and the window side felt open and relaxing for a meal. There are stylish interior touches here and there too, so it's honestly a pretty good place for photos!

Seating includes tables for 2 and 4 as well as bar-style seats, so it works for different group sizes and situations. The kitchen is open, so you can even watch the food being prepared, and the whole place felt clean and well kept, which I liked even more 👍

Hangers, disposable aprons and Wi-Fi at Extra Mile

There's a clothes hanger on the wall where I could easily leave my coat, and disposable aprons right next to it, so I could eat without worrying about stains! There's also in-store Wi-Fi that you can connect to easily with a QR code 👍

When I sat down, the table had a paper mat to color on and colored pencils, so there was a little something to do while waiting for the food and the wait didn't feel boring 😊

What's on the Extra Mile menu?

Extra Mile's pizzas include hot honey pepperoni, birria taco, potato and salad pizza, among others, and the dough is mixed in the restaurant and cold-aged for about 48 hours. The pastas range from tomato pasta to bisque cream pasta, white ragu pasta and peanut butter pasta!

The sides, including a house salad and grilled vegetables with romesco sauce, were varied and tasty too, but if you want to enjoy several dishes together, I recommend going with a set menu 👍

What comes in the Extra Combo Set?

We ordered the Extra Combo Set at Extra Mile. For the pizza we chose a half-and-half of the potato pizza and the birria taco pizza, for the pasta the bisque cream pasta and the tomato pasta, and for the side the house salad! (After ordering, we colored with crayons while we waited 😊)

After a little coloring and waiting, a staff member brought the dishes right to our table, and the food on pretty plates looked delicious just from looking at it.

Tomato pasta: house-made sauce with basil and stracciatella

Extra Mile's tomato pasta let you really taste a rich tomato sauce. It kept the tomato's tangy, savory depth, yet was soft and fresh rather than harsh,

Maybe because the sauce is made in the restaurant, the deep tomato flavor felt harmonious and blended nicely with the noodles. With fresh basil and stracciatella cheese on top, I think the natural flavor of the tomato came through even more cleanly 👍

Bisque cream pasta: best eaten with gamtae seaweed

Extra Mile's bisque cream pasta is a house-made cream pasta with a rich bisque sauce, made by simmering red shrimp heads and shells for a long time. The sauce isn't store-bought but made in-house, so it's unique to Extra Mile, which made me even more curious about the taste.

On the first bite, not just the creamy richness but the deep flavor of shrimp spread through my mouth, and the sauce is strong enough that its taste came through well with the noodles. The key to this dish is eating it with the gamtae (a fine, delicate seaweed) served alongside; its subtle sea aroma blended with the nutty cream sauce for a different kind of taste. Adding gamtae to a shrimp-centered pasta gave it a fresh twist, and I liked that 😊

How does the potato and birria taco half-and-half pizza taste?

I liked that Extra Mile's half-and-half lets you try two different styles of pizza on one pie at no extra charge. We chose potato pizza and birria taco pizza.

Potato pizza: fried potato slices and a hint of truffle

Extra Mile's potato pizza is topped with thinly sliced fried potato, and the crispy bite was a nice change. The mild potato flavor, nutty cheese and faintly spreading truffle aroma worked well together, and maybe thanks to the thin, chewy dough and the potato texture, I didn't feel bloated after eating it and enjoyed it comfortably 👍

Birria taco pizza: add cilantro for a real taco taste

Extra Mile's birria taco pizza is a unique combination inspired by tacos, so it tastes different from an ordinary pizza. The salty meat topping and the mix of ingredients kept the savory depth alive, and with cilantro added, its distinctive aroma gave it a one-of-a-kind taste like eating a taco!!

I heard Extra Mile bakes a crust that is crispy outside and chewy inside, using premium Italian flour and dough made in the restaurant with a biga pre-ferment method and aged cold for a long time. Maybe that's why both pizzas had thin yet chewy dough, and I enjoyed them as something different from the pizza I usually eat 👏

How was the house salad at Extra Mile?

Extra Mile's house salad is built around whole butterhead lettuce, so it looked a bit different from an ordinary salad. Fresh greens with a sweet-and-sour dressing refresh the appetite, and crispy bacon chips on top let you enjoy crunchy vegetables and crispy toppings together. The dressing's tang and the bacon's saltiness made it far more varied than just eating vegetables, so it was great as a side to share 👍
