Seongsu teppanyaki for team dinners, free shrimp topping: Oshi Black
In short
Oshi Black Seongsu is an okonomiyaki and yakisoba teppanyaki restaurant on basement level 1 of 22-18 Seoulsup 4-gil, between Seoulsup Station and Ttukseom Station in Seoul. After putting it off because of the queues, the writer visited Oshi Black Seongsu at an off-peak hour with no wait, sat at the bar and ordered the 2-person selection (37,000 won), getting free cheese and shrimp toppings per person through a Naver review event. With the chef's teppan performance and friendly staff, Oshi Black Seongsu is a strong pick for a team dinner or group gathering in Seongsu.

Oshi Black Seongsu (오시 블랙 성수) is so famous for its okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) and yakisoba (fried noodles) that I'd never gone because of the waits. This time I came at a totally off-peak hour and got in with no wait!
Where is Oshi Black Seongsu, and what about hours and parking?
Oshi Black Seongsu is at 22-18 Seoulsup 4-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, in basement level 1, and it is open 11:00–22:30. Group visits, takeout, Wi-Fi, reservations and simple mobile payment are all available.

The Seongsu branch is about a 7-minute walk from Ttukseom Station Exit 8 and about 5 minutes from Seoulsup Station Exit 5. There's no parking lot of its own, so you'll need a nearby paid lot!

Seating at Oshi Black Seongsu: bar seats and tables with personal griddles
The inside is split into bar seats and table seats. In front of the bar is a big teppan griddle, and the 2- and 4-person tables each have a personal griddle in the middle. The interior is clean and stylish, so pick whichever seat suits you.

What's in the 2-person selection, and how much is it?
From Oshi's best selections I chose the 2-person selection: classic Oshi-nomiyaki, yakisoba pork belly roll, and potato salad with beans. The total came to ₩37,000. :) With teppanyaki you obviously sit at the bar, right? It's a treat for the eyes and the mouth. So we sat at the bar.

Classic Oshi-nomiyaki, plus free shrimp and cheese toppings from the review event
The classic Oshi-nomiyaki (okonomiyaki) being made! Oshi is a Seongsu spot that's fun to watch and fun to eat. It's not okonomiyaki and yakisoba as mere drinking snacks; I was so happy to enjoy the real thing properly here in Korea.

The chef went swish-swish-swish, clack-clack-clack, and ta-da, the classic Oshi okonomiyaki was done. A Naver review event was running, so we got cheese and shrimp toppings free. It's per person, not per table, so that meant two toppings each. Yay!

Oshi's classic okonomiyaki is generously topped with green onion and katsuobushi (bonito flakes). It's what you'd call Oshi's signature flavor, a classic that nails the basics. On top were four plump shrimp from the review event. Piled with generous, fresh ingredients and eaten piping hot right in front of you, how delicious could it be?! ㅠㅠㅠㅠ From the first bite, richness and umami build up layer after layer, and I became sure this is my favorite okonomiyaki. Hahaha

What does the yakisoba pork belly roll taste like?
The yakisoba pork belly roll was scooped up with a big spatula, thunk! Hahaha. At Oshi Black Seongsu, finished dishes are placed on the individual griddle in front of you, so it's fun to eat and fun to watch. I was really happy with this spot near Ttukseom and Seoulsup stations.

The yakisoba pork belly roll… how did anyone think of rolling yakisoba in pork belly? Hahaha. The chewy yakisoba noodles are wrapped in pork belly, and the noodle-and-meat combo is a flavor no Korean could dislike. Being rolled up, it was easy to eat too. It's a taste that would make even Japanese people slap their foreheads, new and fresh. It was an unusual yakisoba, much tastier than what I usually eat.

Side dish: potato salad with beans
The potato salad with beans in the 2-person selection feels like a potato salad, nice as a light side!

A heart candy box after the meal and friendly staff
After the meal, Oshi Black Seongsu brought a heart-shaped candy box to freshen our mouths. So this is the kind of touch you need to become a hit in Seongsu, hahaha. If the performance made me happy all through the meal, the friendly staff made me even happier after we finished.

Why I recommend Oshi Black Seongsu for group dinners and gatherings in Seongsu
Oshi Black Seongsu has a cozy yet stylish layout, so I'd recommend it as a Seongsu spot for company dinners and get-togethers. I'm going to push hard for it for our next company dinner~!!! In snooty Seongsu, hahaha. I think the food tasted even better because of the really kind staff.
Takeout is available too, so it's also known as a picnic and takeout spot for Seoulsup. Enjoying warm, packed okonomiyaki and yakisoba on the Seoulsup lawn sounds great. If you're looking for a good place in Seongsu, do visit. You won't regret it!
