Where Najumyeonok Gwacheon Branch is and when it opens

Najumyeonok Gwacheon Branch is on the 1st floor at 21-4 Chanumul-ro, Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's a great spot to stop before or after a trip to Seoul Grand Park or Seoul Land.

Hours are Mon–Sun 11:00–22:00 (last order 20:40), with a weekday break time from 15:00–16:30.

How many cars can park at Najumyeonok?

There's building parking — about 4 spots in front of the restaurant and about 3 in the rear lot. It's not huge, but it wasn't inconvenient to use.

Hanok exterior, interior mood and high chairs

One of the biggest features of Najumyeonok Gwacheon Branch is the hanok (traditional Korean house) exterior. It's built to look like a hanok on the outside, and the first time I saw it I thought, "wait, is this really a restaurant?" haha, it was that impressive.

The quiet, old-fashioned charm of the hanok exterior lifts your mood before you even walk in. It's great for photos and fits a special occasion too. Inside was clean, and the tables were spaced comfortably apart.

They had baby chairs too, which was nice.

What's on the menu at Najumyeonok Gwacheon Branch

On weekdays you can get bulgogi hanjeongsik or galbi hanjeongsik, and the noodle dishes include Hamheung-style mul naengmyeon, galbi mul naengmyeon, and Naju gomtang. There's also grilled meat you can cook yourself! (They have alcohol to go with the meal too.)

What comes with the 23,000-won weekday galbi hanjeongsik

Since we visited on a weekday for lunch, we got the galbi hanjeongsik, a weekday-only set menu. At ₩23,000 per person, the spread was really substantial. There were two of us, so we ordered two sets.

The galbi hanjeongsik comes with galbi, a choice of seonjiguk (ox blood soup) or doenjang soup, sweet pumpkin porridge, soy-marinated crab, salad, wrap vegetables, 4 side dishes, and then a final choice of bone broth rice cake dumpling soup, mul naengmyeon, or bibim naengmyeon.

You could feel the care in even the basic side dishes. They weren't thrown together — I kept reaching for more of them while waiting for the main dish.

The sweet pumpkin porridge was thin, so it was easy and comforting to sip like a drink~!

The doenjang soup came out clean and savory too. The distinctive nutty aroma of doenjang (fermented soybean paste) was there without being too strong, so it paired well with the side dishes.

How does the galbi, grilled to order, taste?

Finally, the galbi I'd been waiting for arrived. Since it's grilled before serving, you can dig right in. "Sweet and salty pork galbi" is exactly the right way to describe it.

There was no gamey smell at all — very clean. Even people who dislike the typical smell of pork galbi should be able to enjoy this without worry.

The seasoning was just right, sweet and salty in a way that went perfectly with rice. It was even better wrapped in the greens, and eaten together with the soy-marinated crab, it was a total rice thief haha.

Finishing with mul naengmyeon or bibim naengmyeon

For the last course, I chose mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) and my husband chose bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles).

The mul naengmyeon suited our taste better. The cold, clean broth cut right through the richness after the galbi. The noodles had just the right chewiness, satisfying with every bite.

The bibim naengmyeon was good too — both dishes had that nostalgic, old-school flavor.

Drawbacks and tips before you visit

I thought I'd get to choose between seonjiguk and doenjang soup, but doenjang soup just came out automatically. I'm not totally sure if it's not actually a choice and just depends on what's prepared that day — that day, doenjang soup was simply what arrived with our set~!

Probably because the galbi is grilled to order, it took a while for the meat to come out. The table behind us was asking how much longer it would be and telling the staff to hurry haha. I don't know if it's always like this, but on the day I went, there was definitely a wait~!

I'd recommend visiting with plenty of time to spare. While you wait, you can hold yourself over with the soy-marinated crab and side dishes that come out first.

Worried the final naengmyeon course would also take a while like the galbi, I ordered it right when the galbi arrived — but it came out immediately haha. You could probably order the naengmyeon at a relaxed pace after the galbi's all out!
