First impression: why this Haeundae café looks like Brooklyn

Walking along Haeri-dan-gil, the moment I saw the exterior of Low & Sweet Bakery I stopped in my tracks. The sign's font and the facade's color scheme looked almost identical to a local coffee shop I used to frequent in Canada.

It turns out Low & Sweet started from a feeling the founders encountered in New York's Brooklyn — the idea that even if the outside looks rough, warmth flows inside. Once I heard that story, it made sense why it all felt so familiar.

Among Haeundae cafés, it's been a while since I found a place that transplants overseas vibes so faithfully, and I kept looking around the whole time. Prices average ₩5,000–6,000.

Salt bread and egg tart: an honest taste review

Whenever I visit a bakery café, there are two things I always check: salt bread and egg tart. At Low & Sweet Bakery, the pastries looked fresh right from the display case, so my expectations were high.

The salt bread was salty on the outside with a perfect crisp-outside, soft-inside texture, and the egg tart had a crisp pastry shell with a moist custard filling, just like the ones I had in Hong Kong!

They also had a good variety of financiers, and the madeleines looked really tasty too!

The café latte at Low & Sweet Bakery had nutty milk and nutty coffee, striking a comfortable balance rather than leaning acidic — a good fit if you prefer that kind of flavor.

And my favorite spot in this café was the terrace! Maybe because it was sunny the day I visited, it had that crisp atmosphere that felt like Europe and New York Brooklyn at the same time.

If you're planning a Haeundae café tour, I'd recommend aiming for a terrace seat in the morning! The sunbathing... the vibe is unreal!

These days, cafés in tourist spots can feel a bit businesslike since they're so busy, but the staff at Low & Sweet Bakery were polished yet kind, which put me in a good mood!
