On a weekend visit, the writer had bisque shrimp oil pasta, sweet potato bacon pizza and an ade for brunch, browsed the 'Eight Peaks of Taehaksan' pastry in the first-floor bakery, then took photos by the white windmill in the 4th-floor Zinnia Garden rooftop. Why I visited Siyudang, a big café near Taehaksan in Cheonan
Siyudang (시유당) is a large bakery café near Taehaksan in Cheonan. I went on a weekend because I wanted tasty brunch and a rest with some nature to look at. The weather has been so nice lately that staying indoors on a weekend felt like a waste. So I looked for somewhere I could have brunch and relax, and that's how I ended up at Siyudang, the big café near Taehaksan in Cheonan.

Siyudang is known as one of the bigger bakery cafés in Cheonan. I'd heard it gets crowded on weekends, so we set off a little early. Once I got there, I understood why people come. There was more to enjoy than I expected: the wide-open mountain view, brunch, the bakery and the rooftop. Let me show you the atmosphere and what we ate!
What are Siyudang's exterior and parking like?

Siyudang is a four-story building you can spot from far away, and the parking lot in front is roomy, so it was easy to get to by car. The huge building was the first thing I noticed, and it looks exactly like what you'd call a big Cheonan café.
What I liked most was the large parking lot. There's plenty of space in front of the building, so it's convenient if you're coming by car.

The meaning of the name Siyudang
The meaning of the name is written on the wall: "trust (시), stay (유), house (당)." The name itself carries the idea of a space where you can stay comfortably, which made me like it even more. There was also a notice at the entrance about a CESCO virus care system, which was reassuring.

Siyudang discount events
Siyudang runs a variety of discount events, so if you time your visit right there seem to be lots of perks. If you're visiting on a weekday, it's worth checking before you go.
Siyudang's floors and the Taehaksan window view
The 1st floor is for ordering and pickup, the 2nd and 3rd floors have large indoor seating areas and terraces, and the 4th floor is a rooftop called the Zinnia Garden. You can check this on the floor guide next to the elevator.
Personally, I loved the huge windows. The fresh green scenery of Taehaksan spreads out outside, and just looking at it put me in a good mood.

There's a variety of seating and plenty of space, so it works for chatting with friends and would be fine for a date, too.
Is Siyudang okay to visit with kids?
There's a kids' table on the 2nd floor and a diaper-changing station in the 2nd-floor restroom, so it looked fine for families. When you go out with a baby, whether a place has these facilities matters more than you'd think, right?
The café is big and clearly pays attention to amenities too, so it's worth a look if you're planning a Cheonan outing with a child. Plenty of the reviews I read before visiting listed it as a place to go with kids in Cheonan, and having been there, I can see a bit of why.
Siyudang brunch: bisque shrimp oil pasta and sweet potato bacon pizza

What we ordered at Siyudang was the bisque shrimp oil pasta, the sweet potato bacon pizza, and a refreshing ade. We'd looked around the café for a while first, then ordered our meal properly.

I'd seen lots of reviews saying the pasta at Siyudang is good, so I'd been looking forward to it.

Sure enough, the bisque shrimp oil pasta was packed with plump shrimp and clams, which made it fun to eat. The noodles and seafood together tasted great, and the portion was filling.

The sweet potato bacon pizza was good too. I liked it from the first look, with the cheese stretching. The salty bacon with sweet potato topping made a nice sweet-and-salty combo. I think the pizza would also be good to share if you come with a few people.
Siyudang's signature bakery item: 'Eight Peaks of Taehaksan'

One of the famous items at the 1st-floor bakery is the 'Eight Peaks of Taehaksan' pastry. After our meal we browsed the bakery. The bread is said to be modeled on Taehaksan, and its unusual shape and pretty colors caught my eye.

'Eight Peaks of Taehaksan' is popular and apparently sells out if you arrive late, so if you're curious, it's a good idea to go early.

Salt bread, croissants, egg tarts and cake slices
Beyond that, the Siyudang bakery had a real variety: pollock roe mayo salt bread, garlic cream cheese salt bread, croissants, egg tarts and more. From sweet desserts to salty breads, there's a bit of everything, so you can pick to your taste.

Pretty cake slices were on display too, and every one looked so good that I spent ages looking. Siyudang is appealing not just for brunch but as a bakery café, too.
Siyudang's 4th-floor Zinnia Garden rooftop and white windmill

If you visit Siyudang, I really hope you'll go up to the 4th-floor Zinnia Garden rooftop. Personally, it's what I remembered most. Up on the rooftop, the open sky and the surrounding nature spread out in front of you.

The white windmill sculpture, which feels like Siyudang's symbol, was so pretty. Colorful flowers were blooming around it, so wherever I took photos, the mood was good. If you like taking pictures, you'll probably end up staying a long while.
We visited on a sunny day and got our fill of blue sky and fresh scenery. Next time I'd like to come around sunset, too.
Siyudang in Cheonan: my take after visiting
Siyudang had more to see and do than I'd expected. The large parking lot made it easy to visit, and the view of Taehaksan through the big windows was lovely.

Above all, I liked that the brunch and bakery menus are varied enough to cover everything from a meal to dessert in one place. With the pretty photo spots and the rooftop on top of that, it would work as a date course, too.

I'd recommend it to people like me who find going far on a weekend a burden but want a change of mood in nature. If you're looking for a big café in Cheonan or a brunch spot near Taehaksan, give Siyudang a try. It was a great place to eat good food, take pretty photos and spend a relaxed time.
