In short

I'm Jay, a diet mukbang-er (I only go looking for delicious food). Today I visited Childish, a taiyaki hotspot among the cafés of Seongsu-dong.
- Five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, and I mean it, a genuine review
- Salted bread taiyaki, which I'd never tried before, became the bread of my life
- Philippine ube bingsu 🍧 was JMT (insanely delicious)
- Easy parking (I used a nearby public lot)
Where is Childish in Seongsu, and what's the vibe?
Childish is a taiyaki spot on the second floor of a building on Yeonmujang-gil in Seongsu-dong, the kind of place where taiyaki season is all four seasons. Fitting for a Seongsu café in hip Seoul, the exterior was so trendy and pretty.

It's on the second floor, and the signature menu is posted along the stairs on the way up, so I walked in even more excited about what to eat.
A cute mint pastel interior
Step inside Childish and a cute, cozy interior opens up.

The whole place is done in mint pastel tones, and there are taiyaki characters here and there, so the identity of a Seongsu taiyaki café hit me right away!!

An in-store restroom and blankets for chilly days
The restroom at Childish is inside the café, and it was really clean.

At many cafés the restroom is outside, so you always have the hassle of bringing tissue and finding out the door code. Childish has it inside, which was much more convenient.

Blankets were neatly set out in one corner of the café. It was chilly today and I was in short sleeves, so I covered up with a blanket.
Childish menu and prices
Childish serves coffee and a variety of drinks, plus bingsu, salted bread and made-to-order taiyaki.

Bingsu is ₩22,900 for mango and ₩20,900 for ube. There are also lots of salted breads.
- Egg mayo salted bread ₩5,500
- Jambon-beurre salted bread ₩7,500
- Red bean butter salted bread ₩4,500

Taiyaki (fish-shaped pastry) made fresh to order
The salted taiyaki, pizza salted taiyaki and mammoth chewy salted taiyaki are all made the moment you order at Childish. I was lucky enough to watch them being made. Wow, they looked so good! Watching the process made my mouth water even more.
What we ordered at Childish and the total cost
We ordered 11 items at Childish for ₩73,500 in total. I'll introduce them one by one :)
- Egg mayo salted bread ₩5,500
- Red bean butter salted bread ₩4,500
- Salted bread rusk ₩3,500
- Red bean rice cake salted bread ₩3,800
- Ube bingsu ₩20,900
- Buljangnan cream coffee ₩6,900
- Buljangnan choco latte ₩6,900

- Salted taiyaki ₩4,500
- Mammoth chewy salted taiyaki ₩7,000
- Pizza salted taiyaki ₩5,500
Egg mayo salted bread, ₩5,500
The egg mayo salted bread at Childish was so generously filled that the egg mayo spilled out of the bread. The soft, fluffy egg mayo went so well with the salty, chewy salted bread, and I'd definitely order it again.
Red bean butter salted bread, ₩4,500
The red bean butter salted bread at Childish is a big salted bread packed with sweet red bean and butter.

Salty salted bread + sweet red bean + creamy butter: if I had to describe how this combo tastes, it's a luxurious upgrade of Bokhodu walnut cakes (hodu-gwaja, walnut-shaped pastries)! I think it would make a great gift too.
Salted bread rusk, ₩3,500
At Childish, after you order you sit down and the staff set everything up and bring it to your seat.

The salted bread rusk was also served in a pretty bowl like this. It's crunchy and sweet, so it's delicious.
Red bean rice cake salted bread, ₩3,800

The red bean rice cake salted bread at Childish is a salted bread where the pairing of bread and red bean is so tasty. The size is just right too, so I highly recommend it as a dessert to go with a visit to the café after a meal.
What does the ube bingsu at Childish taste like?
The ube bingsu at Childish (₩20,900) is a shaved ice made with milk-based ice topped with ube syrup. The owner reportedly developed it herself from a trip to the Philippines with her mother. Isn't that so romantic~?
The milk-based ice was so soft, and the ube syrup was tasty too, so I enjoyed it so much.
Buljangnan cream coffee and choco latte ₩6,900, iced Americano ₩4,500
To go with the taiyaki and salted bread, I ordered a coffee, a latte and an Americano.

All the Buljangnan drinks had marshmallow on top, soft and chewy and so good. And when you're eating sweet desserts, you really need an iced Americano ("ah-ah" in Korean)! You have to order one.
How are Childish's 3 salted taiyaki different?
Salted taiyaki, ₩4,500

The salted taiyaki at Childish is a hot salted taiyaki with a piece of red bean butter placed right on top! The red bean and salted bread dough go well together, and I love how the red bean butter melts a little and soaks in softly.
Mammoth chewy salted taiyaki, ₩7,000

The mammoth chewy salted taiyaki holds rice cake (jeolpyeon), red bean butter, red bean and mugwort rice cake all in one taiyaki, a huge mammoth of a taiyaki!! The owner who came up with this is a genius. You should file a patent 👍 I love chewy textures, so I enjoyed it so much.
Pizza salted taiyaki, ₩5,500

I ordered the pizza salted taiyaki because the menu describes it as "never bad" (maseopseop). And it really is never bad, the very definition. Even just one would probably fill you up as a meal replacement.
Where to park for Childish in Seongsu
When I visited Childish by car, I used the Jayang 4-dong Traditional Market public parking lot. It has lots of space and the fee is cheap.
The only taiyaki spot among Seongsu-dong cafés! That was my visit review of Childish.
