Ewha hair salon seborrheic scalp scaling, hair-loss check: Eco Revy

With the change of seasons, my scalp was flaring up and the old flakes were bugging me, so I finally took the plunge and visited Eco Revy Hair Ewha Branch (에코레비헤어 이대점)! 💇‍♀️ The sun has been brutal this year.. my crown feels way too hot, and I heard a hot scalp makes hair loss more likely, so I went to get it looked after!

Ugh.. isn't it insanely hot lately? My crown is practically burning. But you know what? They say if you don't take proper care of your scalp, your face sags 😱😱 So I'm serious about scalp care. The older I get, the more I can feel my lower face drooping, so I figure I should take care of it while I can..

They said they use safe products extracted from natural ingredients, so even sensitive me decided to visit!

Come out of Exit 3 of Ewha Womans University Station, slip into the first alley where you can see Olive Young, and Eco Revy Hair Ewha Branch is right there on the 2nd floor of the building on the right. It's close to the station, so visiting in the heatwave wasn't too tiring!

Maybe because it's a shop that specializes in head spa and hair-loss care, treatments happen in individual spaces, so even an introvert like me didn't feel awkward at all. 💓 Not that anybody cares.;; but introverts always worry about it on their own.. 🥲🥲

They specialize in head spa, recovery perms and hair-loss care but also do a wide range of other hair services, so it's good both for going in for care and for changing your hairstyle. And the prices are on the affordable side. I liked that the pricing is transparent, with the cost by hair length clearly shown in a chart. At other salons, pricing by length is way too freestyle;;; with long hair like mine, you wake up and suddenly you're someone who dropped ₩300,000... You feel me, right...? 🥲

The interior is cozy and pleasant! I booked ahead and went on a weekend morning, and it was crowded! I figured there wouldn't be many people in this heatwave, but Koreans are really serious about self-care..! 👍👍 And with so many people worried about scalp hair loss from the environment and stress..! I think more people are getting care.

The waiting area was pleasant and they gave me a drink, so I knocked back an americano before the treatment~ ☕

Premium Deep Scaling Cut: step by step

Okay, let me walk you through the 'Premium Deep Scaling Cut' I got at Eco Revy Hair Ewha Branch, with my honest review, in order! 👇 It goes from scalp diagnosis consultation to natural emulsion deep scaling, Dohi spa, head spa and a cut.

Scalp diagnosis consultation

First they diagnose your hair condition! It happens in a private room, and I saw lots of certificates and plaques. It gave a strongly professional impression~

In the consultation room they took photos of my scalp with a device and showed them on a screen while explaining in detail. Recently I'd been losing a lot of hair 🥲 and I have seborrheic dermatitis, so I'd even used medication, but even though I wash well, I get flaking, strong heat and itching. I wanted to understand the cause again and take care of it, and the detailed explanation was great.

First of all........ I was relieved to hear that the thing I worried about most, hair loss in progress, wasn't the case. 🥲 As you can see in that photo, if there are 2-3 hairs per pore, you can relax a bit. But when only one is left, yikes ㄷㄷㄷㄷ

So you need to know in advance and do prevention and care~!! I wash my hair in the evening and don't dry it well, which they said caused lots of flakes around the scalp, so I chose intensive flake care. I liked that products are chosen based on each person's hair condition.

Aromatherapy

As soon as I sat down, they calmed my mind and body with a subtle aroma. It felt like healing from the very start. 😌

Deep scaling with natural emulsion & scalp machine

Manager Hyeon (현이 실장님) did my treatment, and she explained every step: what she was doing, which products she used, and what they're good for, so it felt like even better care! Thumbs up for the thoroughness!!

She spread the natural emulsion evenly~ and said it sweeps away the built-up flakes, sebum and waste on and inside the scalp.

She brought in a fascinating scalp machine and cared for every corner, and it truly felt like a long-held blockage clearing! My head felt cool all the way through, just pure relief. When the steam blasted my scalp, which normally runs hot, I could feel the heat coming down.

Dohi spa + head spa

Next I went into an individual room for the spa. You lie down for it. Super comfy 👏

Paradise isn't even needed 💤 Office workers have a hard time on weekdays, so going there on the weekend relieves stress and gets you scalp care, two birds with one stone...! Honestly, as soon as I lay down I nearly fell asleep snoring.

There was a treatment step to clear out the waste and toxins built up in the scalp, and during it they pressed the décolleté and the neck and scalp points like a massage, and oh... my... gosh... bliss... 💖 Seriously, I almost said please keep going a bit longer.. Infrared is good for results, so it was healing time under the infrared~

The last step is the head spa. They said a silicone-free treatment gives the scalp plenty of nourishment. This course is seriously amazing.

You get the spa with something like a stream (?) of warm water, and I thought all my body's fatigue was melting away... It felt like the blood circulation in my knotted scalp was fully flowing 🌊

They said that as the water flows down like this, nutrients soak all the way into the hair below.

On the scalp, freshly and thoroughly cleaned, they generously layer a scalp mask and a highly concentrated ampoule. I could feel the good nutrients soaking in, and my insides felt quite full (?)

Finishing cut and styling

After perfect scaling, spa and acupressure, they finished with a neat cut! They styled it to suit me too, and I loved it. Needless to say, my head feels lighter, and the style is transformed to perfection ✂️

How was it afterward?

Ah, honestly, I'm totally satisfied. 💯 I finally understand why people pay for scalp care. Washing my hair feels refreshing every time, and with the crown feeling lighter, my whole body feels refreshed. For this course at this quality, the price felt completely reasonable, even cheap, and I didn't regret spending a single won. I plan to visit regularly. For hair-loss prevention and anti-aging... I protect my own scalp! ✊

Manager Hyeon was so kind and her touch so delicate that I was very satisfied. Looking forward to next time too 💚
