Jangji Station hot pot rice spot: eel sotbap ochazuke at Gomemui
In short
Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive is a Japanese hot pot rice (sotbap) restaurant in Songpa, Seoul, on basement level 1 of the Techno Hall at Garden5 Hyundai City Outlet, right in front of Jangji Station exit 4. The eel hot pot rice was eaten plain at first, then finished ochazuke-style with seaweed flakes and hot water once about a third of the rice was left, with a side of tenderloin hire-katsu. The eel portion at Gomemui was generous and the sauce sweet enough that the side dishes went untouched — a filling, satisfying meal.

Today I'm introducing a Garden Five favorite, Gomemui 😊 Gomemui is a hot pot rice spot right near Jangji Station that's known for its sotbap 💛 I really love hot pot rice to begin with, and lately my energy's been a bit low, so I wanted something hearty 🙌

So this time I ordered the eel hot pot rice, plus the tenderloin hire-katsu I've been obsessed with lately as a side dish 😋 The eel hot pot rice was hearty and savory, and with the hire-katsu on top it felt like a proper full meal ✨ If you're looking for a Garden Five spot or a hot pot rice restaurant near Jangji Station, let me introduce Gomemui right now 💛

Where is Gomemui Gardenfive, and how close is it to Jangji Station?

Gomemui Gardenfive is really easy to find right from exit 4 of Jangji Station 📍 It's on basement level 1 of the Techno Hall at Garden5 Hyundai City Outlet 😊 Take the escalator down to B1 and it's right there on your right, so it wasn't hard to find at all 💛 It's close to Jangji Station and a really convenient spot to stop for a meal while shopping at Garden Five ✨
Inside Gomemui: the room and how far apart the tables sit

The inside of Gomemui, a favorite near Jangji Station, was clean and well put together overall 😊 The tables were spaced pretty far apart so I didn't feel cramped next to other diners, which made for a comfortable meal 💛 The tables themselves were wide too, so there was plenty of room even with the hot pot rice and side dishes laid out ✨ It's a good space for a family meal or a relaxed meal at Garden Five 🙌

The Gomemui menu: how many kinds of hot pot rice?

Gomemui's menu ranges from hot pot rice to tonkatsu, udon, soba, and curry 😊 Just the hot pot rice alone comes in seven varieties, including eel and steak, so there's plenty to choose from depending on your taste 💛 If you want tonkatsu alongside your hot pot rice, you can order it as a side, so no need to worry 🙌 For those who want both hot pot rice and tenderloin hire-katsu like me, the lineup was pretty solid ✨

Eel hot pot rice piled with scallions and freshwater eel

I ordered the eel hot pot rice this time 🍚 The warm hot pot rice was topped with plenty of fragrant scallions and a generous serving of clean-tasting freshwater eel 😊

The moment I lifted the lid, the aroma of eel and scallions rose together and it looked absolutely delicious 💛 There was plenty of eel on top, so it made for a really hearty meal ✨

How to eat the eel hot pot rice and finish it as ochazuke
Rather than mixing all the rice and eel together from the start, it's better to just scoop it as is at first 🍚 Eating the warm hot pot rice with eel and scallions on top lets you really taste the eel's clean, savory flavor 😊

Then once about a third of the rice is left, scoop it into a bowl, add roasted seaweed flakes, and pour in hot water from the thermos to enjoy it like ochazuke 💛 Eating the eel hot pot rice plain at first and finishing it warm ochazuke-style meant getting two different experiences from one dish, which was fun ✨

Isn't this little wooden piece just so cute 😊 It's such a small detail, but it gave off Gomemui's own particular vibe and kept catching my eye 💛

Being made of wood, it matched well with the warm feel of the hot pot rice and added a little extra character to the table ✨

The eel hot pot rice portion itself was quite generous, so it was filling on its own 🍚 The eel sauce was sweet and well-seasoned, so I barely reached for the side dishes 😊

A dipping sauce for the eel came alongside, but the eel itself was already seasoned so well with sweetness that I personally found it plenty delicious even without the sauce 💛 Just the eel and hot pot rice together were satisfying enough — the flavor felt complete ✨

How was the tenderloin hire-katsu on the side?

Why is hire-katsu this delicious 😋 Between tonkatsu cuts, I tend to prefer tenderloin over ribeye 💛 Hire-katsu is low in fat, light, and yet the meat is so tender that it's really its charm 😊 One bite and it was moist and soft enough to practically melt away in my mouth 🙌 Pairing the hire-katsu alongside the eel hot pot rice added even more heartiness, and the combination was really good ✨

Is Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive worth a visit?
Gomemui, a favorite near Jangji Station, was a great place for a hearty meal, from the eel hot pot rice to the hire-katsu 😊 The eel hot pot rice had a generous amount of eel and a sweet sauce that made it delicious, and finishing it ochazuke-style at the end was a nice touch 💛

The hire-katsu side dish was also tender and light, pairing really well with the eel hot pot rice ✨ If you're near Jangji Station or Garden Five looking for a clean, satisfying hot pot rice spot, I'd recommend Gomemui 🙌
