Munjeong-dong rice pot restaurant in Seoul: salmon sotbap set at
In short
Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive is a sotbap (hot pot rice) restaurant that recently opened on basement level 1 of Gardenfive in Songpa-gu, Seoul, linked straight to Jangji Station on Line 8. We ordered the salmon soboru sotbap and the steak sotbap with a salt-koji, low-temperature aged pork katsu set, mixed each course in the order shown on the guide card, and finished by pouring hot water into the pot for sungnyung (roasted rice tea). Gomemui is a solid choice near Jangji Station and Munjeong-dong when you want a neat, carefully plated Korean-Japanese set meal.

I recently visited Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive, a Gardenfive restaurant, and had the neat salmon soboru sotbap and steak sotbap katsu set!
I heard it had just freshly opened and hurried over haha. I had good memories of eating well at the Songpa Munjeong branch, so I was really happy to hear about this new opening!
Where is Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive, and where do you park?
Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive, a Gardenfive restaurant, is located in the basement 1 floor of Gardenfive, directly connected to Jangji Station on Subway Line 8 haha. Getting off at the station and walking along the connecting passage takes you straight to the restaurant, so accessibility was really excellent!

If you're visiting by car, park in the Techno Hall section marked by the blue pillar after entering Gardenfive's underground parking lot, and you can find the restaurant quickly haha. The underground parking area is quite spacious, but if you just follow the Techno Hall blue pillar signs, you're connected straight to the elevator, which made the route really convenient!

What is the restaurant like inside?
Both the exterior and interior were clean and neatly arranged, as befits a newly opened spot haha. Soft, cozy lighting combined with warm wood-toned interiors made for a comfortable dining environment! The spacing between tables wasn't cramped either, so I could focus on the meal in a pleasant mood!
What is on the Gomemui menu?

Looking through the menu slowly, I saw a variety of neatly arranged sotbap set meals and katsu set menus, laid out nicely haha. They said they use fresh seasonal ingredients each season, so you can enjoy new dishes prepared in a varied way every season!
How to eat the steak sotbap step by step

The steak sotbap I ordered this visit came out generously topped with neatly grilled wagyu steak, a yellow egg yolk, chopped scallions, and a piece of butter haha. I read through the instruction card placed conveniently on the table explaining how to enjoy it best, and followed along step by step!
First, I mixed the rice and egg yolk in the pot evenly together with the wagyu steak, then transferred it neatly into the separately provided bowl. The special sauce that comes with it can be salty if you pour too much at once, so I added it little by little, adjusting the seasoning as I mixed.

The savory juices of the wagyu blended with the slightly sweet sauce spread rich umami through my mouth, and the plumpness of the rice grains, made from premium rice, was excellent haha.
After scooping all the rice into the bowl, I poured hot water into the pot and closed the lid, leaving it to make a savory sungnyung to enjoy after the meal!
What does the salmon soboru sotbap taste like?

The salmon soboru sotbap was a hot pot rice dish filled with plainly grilled salmon, soft scrambled egg soboru, and colorful flying fish roe haha. Thanks to the vivid, pretty colors, it was a joy to look at even before eating!

Following the order on the instruction card, I broke up the salmon in the pot and mixed it evenly with the egg soboru, then transferred it to the prepared bowl. Adding the house special sauce and mixing it in, the salmon's plain flavor and the egg soboru's softness came together refreshingly.

As the card suggested, wrapping it in crispy seaweed or topping it with seasoned fish roe gave it an even deeper flavor haha. For the salmon soboru sotbap too, once the rice was scooped out, hot water was poured into the pot and the lid closed to make a warm sungnyung.
The salt-koji, low-temperature aged pork katsu set

The pork katsu that came as a set with the steak sotbap also felt exceptionally well-made haha. Because it's fried after being aged at low temperature using salt koji, the crispy texture was really outstanding!

Crispy outside and juicy inside, every bite delivered a rich, savory flavor of the meat itself haha. It went really well as a side dish alongside the warm sotbap meal!
Is Gomemui Gardenfive worth a visit?
Newly opened Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive, a Gardenfive restaurant, was a neat hot-pot-rice specialist where you could feel the care and quality haha. Drinking the savory sungnyung brewed warm in the pot after the meal left my stomach feeling gentle and comfortable, which was satisfying haha.
If you're near Jangji Station or Munjeong-dong and find yourself craving a warm, thoughtfully prepared set meal, I recommend visiting this Gardenfive restaurant with a caring heart!
