Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon for a family meal in eastern Jeju

While traveling around eastern Jeju, I visited a standout Seongsan restaurant that is perfect when you want a proper Korean meal with your parents or family 👍🏻 It was Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon Seongsan Ilchulbong Branch (제주로운청해원 성산일출봉점), right near Seongsan Ilchulbong, Seopjikoji, and Aqua Planet Jeju~ With no break time, it was somewhere we could comfortably stop by anytime for a hearty meal 🙂

What are the hours and parking like?

Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon is open daily from 08:00 to 21:30, with last orders at 21:00. There are two free parking spaces behind the restaurant, and when they are full, I heard you can also park in the white-lined spaces on the road in front.

✔️A restaurant with no break time, breakfast available, and spacious group seating✔️ Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon sits conveniently in the middle of an eastern Jeju route that includes Gwangchigi Beach and Sinyang Beach, haha. The owner was so kind too, so we had a really pleasant meal 💃🍚

The interior was comfortable, with spacious group tables well set up, making it an ideal restaurant for a family trip or for bringing your parents 😋 Being open from early morning until evening without a break time was the best too—easy to drop in for a meal anytime! There were so many different side dishes as well, so I think older family members would be completely happy here, haha.

That day, we ordered the generously packed A set! You can choose the soup, so we went with the richly flavored sea urchin seaweed soup. (It would be great for a hangover too ><) From the spicy braised hairtail, beautifully soaked with seasoning, to every carefully prepared side dish, everything was so good that we seriously just demolished it without a word, hahaha.

How to enjoy sticky pot rice all the way to scorched rice

The real highlight of this spread was the grilled tilefish: crisp on the outside, moist inside, and nicely salty—a total rice thief, you know? 👍🏻 The hot sticky pot rice, freshly cooked and served, also made the meal feel so much better! Here is a little tip for enjoying it really deliciously! (Borrowed from Chef Yoon Nam-no's tip 😉)

A truly delicious way to use the pot rice

• Scoop the freshly served sticky pot rice into a bowl, then enjoy it first with the braised hairtail and grilled tilefish 😋
• With a little rice left in the pot, pour in the nutty, warm sea urchin seaweed soup and put the lid back on 🤤
• As you are finishing the meal, scrape up and eat the savory softened scorched rice (nurungji). It cleans up your palate and makes for a truly perfect finish 🥹👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 (Highly, highly recommended for a hangover!!!!!)

Jejurowoon Cheonghaewon was somewhere I was completely satisfied with, both for the variety and the flavor—from the main braised hairtail to grilled tilefish, sticky pot rice, and sea urchin seaweed soup 🥹🥹👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 They even serve soy-marinated raw crab as a side dish. I heard you can buy it too, if you want!
