In short

Brivit Hongdae Yeonnam is a pasta and gnocchi restaurant in Mapo, Seoul, on the 2nd floor of the Mega Coffee building near Exit 3 of Hongik Univ. Station. The writer stopped by with a younger sibling during a walk through Yeontral Park and ordered the signature scallion cream corn gnocchi and the Hop-Hop Bunny Pasta. The handmade gnocchi was crispy outside and chewy inside, and the bunny pasta came cutely plated with plenty of seafood. Close to the station and full of European charm, Brivit Hongdae Yeonnam is a solid pick for a Hongdae date or a wedding invitation get-together.

I hadn't seen my younger sister in a while, so I searched hard for a nice place where we could walk around Yeontral Park and enjoy a good meal. I heard that Brivit, already a famous hot spot in Seongsu, had newly opened in Yeonnam-dong too, and I ran right over! From the stylish interior to the carefully made dishes, everything was perfect, and we had a successful Hongdae date. Let me show you 🤍

How close is Brivit Hongdae Yeonnam to Hongik Univ. Station?

Brivit Hongdae Yeonnam is super close to the station: come out of Exit 3 of Hongik Univ. Station and it takes less than 2-3 minutes on foot. The Hongdae alleys are a maze and it's easy to get lost, but the location here was truly the best! It's on the 2nd floor of the Mega Coffee building, so I spotted it from far away.

Inside the building there's a small but proper elevator, so I thought it would be comfortable on days when stairs feel like too much, or if you come with your parents. The Gyeongui Line Forest Park connects right nearby, so it's a perfect Hongdae date route: a meal, then a light stroll haha

Brivit Hongdae Yeonnam interior and seating

Brivit Hongdae Yeonnam feels like a European brunch café, with pastel pink, calm green and wood-tone furniture. There are roomy tables that seat from 4 up to 8 people.

The moment I walked in, the bright pastel pink and calm green went so nicely with the wood-tone furniture that I felt like I'd stepped into a little brunch café in Europe. Stylish picture frames hang neatly on the walls, giving it a small gallery vibe too. Natural light pours in through the big windows, so the whole place is bright and photos come out really well. It's great for a cozy couple's date in Hongdae, and just as good for a wedding invitation gathering!

Self-serve bar with beet cabbage pickles and phone chargers

On one side of the restaurant there's a neatly arranged self-serve bar. You can help yourself to cold water, paper cups, wet wipes, and pretty pink beet and cabbage pickles. They even have phone chargers, and the owner's thoughtfulness totally got me, I was so touched 😭

Brivit Hongdae Yeonnam menu and how to order

Single dishes are fine, but the set menus, which let you try the popular dishes in one go, seemed much better value. To order, you shake the little hand bell on each table to call a staff member.

The ordering method was so cute and charming! When the clear, ringing bell sounds, a staff member comes over with a smile, and it felt a bit like being treated as a guest, which was fun haha We ordered Brivit's signature dishes: the scallion cream corn gnocchi and the Hop-Hop Bunny Pasta!

The drinks came out first. My sister got a cola and I got orange juice!!

How does the scallion cream corn gnocchi taste?

Brivit's scallion cream corn gnocchi is handmade gnocchi, crispy outside and chewy inside, with a scallion cream sauce, grilled corn and thick-cut bacon. It became the best gnocchi of my life.

While we were chatting, the scallion cream corn gnocchi we'd been waiting for finally landed on the table. The plating looked fantastic and made my mouth water right away. Maybe because the dough is shaped by hand, the form looked different from the start.

The moment I took a bite, it was crispy outside and chewy inside, the textbook example of crispy-outside, chewy-inside 😭 The subtle scent of scallion blends with the sweet, smooth cream sauce, and the richness is held in check so it never gets heavy. The grilled corn kernels and salty thick-cut bacon bring out a burst of savory flavor, and it truly became the best gnocchi of my life!

What is the Hop-Hop Bunny Pasta?

Brivit's Hop-Hop Bunny Pasta is a seafood pasta with a bunny-shaped cheese as its plating highlight. The sauce has a rich but clean savory flavor, so it's easy for anyone to enjoy.

Next up was the Hop-Hop Bunny Pasta, which is lovely from the name alone! As soon as the plate arrived I found myself grabbing my phone and snapping away. The adorable bunny-shaped plating touch made me smile just looking at it.

The sauce had a rich, clean savory base that anyone would like, and it went well with the gnocchi. The noodles were cooked just right, not mushy. There was plenty of seafood, and the bunny cheese was nutty and tasty.
