Weekday walk-in at a Songni-dan-gil patio bar in Seoul: Daegang
In short
Daegang is a patio bar (yagjang) on Songni-dan-gil in Songpa, Seoul, serving aged sashimi outdoors. A weekday walk-in just before 6:30pm still found the patio nearly full, and the meal was an assorted aged sashimi platter for 29,000 won, sushi rice, and clam and scallop soup with added kalguksu noodles, while the raw shrimp sashimi was sold out because Daegang serves only four plates a day. Daegang's lantern-lit patio is a fine date spot on a cool evening, but without a reservation the answer is to arrive early.

Lately it feels like a crime not to have a drink on a patio in this weather, but you know what cooler days mean? You can eat raw fish to your heart's content(!) A place where you can enjoy aged sashimi on an outdoor patio, one of the hot spots on Songni-dan-gil right now🔥 I visited [Daegang] :)
Where is Daegang? A 10-minute walk from Jamsil, Seokchon or Songpanaru Station
Daegang, a Songni-dan-gil favorite, sits roughly between Jamsil, Seokchon, and Songpanaru stations, about a 10-minute walk from each.
6:30pm on a weekday: Daegang's patio was already nearly full
I showed up before 6:30pm on a weekday and was genuinely shocked at how full the tables already were👀 Did all these people come straight here after work?!

There seem to be about 10 tables outdoors. Some have chairs with backs, some don't — the people who arrived early had already claimed the ones with backs🥲 Sadly, we ended up in the backless, spine-breaking seats.

At the patio entrance there's a cute little sign listing the signature menu and operating hours. The owner is apparently a foreigner... and I'll admit I made an unfair, cheeky guess that the slightly wobbly handwriting and quirky spelling meant the owner wrote it themselves.

Daegang's self-serve bar, with blankets for the patio
At the entrance leading inside, there's also a self-serve station.
- Vinegar-chili sauce, soy sauce
- Seasoned seaweed
- Blankets
- Basket for bags
A blanket is such a welcome sight for someone like me who gets excited about sitting outside and then immediately starts shivering🥹

Can you walk in to Daegang without a reservation?
I visited as a walk-in with no reservation, and by a hair's breadth, I got seated without waiting. Side note: while waiting at the crosswalk for the light, two people standing next to us made a phone call and asked if there was a long wait. They ended up seated right after us — turns out I stumbled onto a hidden hotspot I didn't even know about!

On my way out, I noticed the waitlist notebook was packed with names. Next time I'll play it safe and make a reservation💦
- Reservations can't request patio, table, or counter seating — it's first-come, first-served
- 2-person reservations indoors get counter seats only
- Tables can only be reserved for 3+ people
- Only walk-ins accepted after 6:30pm
Inside Daegang: a layout built around counter seats

Inside, the layout is unusual — tables arranged around a central counter (dachi) area👀 To the left of the counter are bar-style seats facing the wall, which looked great for solo drinking, and to the right are group tables.
Daegang menu and prices: raw shrimp sashimi is four plates a day

You order by scanning the QR code at each table. These days people call the combined raw fish and seafood category 'hoesanmul,' apparently. The menu is split into raw hoesanmul dishes and cooked seafood dishes. I thought I'd arrived reasonably early, but several items were already marked sold out here and there🥲 Since I'd specifically come for the raw shrimp sashimi, I asked a staff member just in case — turns out it's limited to four plates a day…😳😳😳
What we ordered at Daegang
- Assorted aged sashimi ₩29,000
- Clam and scallop soup ₩16,000
- Sushi rice ₩2,000
- Added noodles ₩2,000
- Saero soju x2 ₩6,000 each
Reluctantly saving the raw shrimp sashimi for next time, we ordered aged sashimi plus sushi rice. Partway through, craving some broth, we also added the clam-scallop soup with a side of noodles.
Assorted aged sashimi, 29,000 won for five kinds of fish
The aged sashimi comes with five types: salmon, flounder, sea bass, red seabream, and yellowtail amberjack(?). True to the price, the portion is small but precious.
We mixed up Daegang's own dipping sauce — a blend of ssamjang, chili vinegar sauce, and garlic — and got ready to dig in properly.

I was starving so carbs were calling my name right away💦 For our first bite, we made DIY sashimi rolls by topping the sushi rice — which we ordered as a set — with sashimi. Definitely order the sushi rice!!👍

The sashimi was cut into generous chunks, so there was definitely something to chew on! Flounder was chewy, yellowtail amberjack had a crisper bite〰️
It pairs perfectly with the seaweed from the self-serve bar. Wrapping it with the ggosiraegi (twisted seaweed) that came with it especially filled my mouth with ocean flavor🌊
Clam and scallop soup, 16,000 won, plus kalguksu noodles for 2,000 won

Since the portions felt slightly lacking, we ordered the clam and scallop soup. Since everyone around us seemed to be adding noodles, we added some too! It came out to more than I expected!!
Imagine if we hadn't added the noodles… The broth was way too good to just drink on its own, so adding the noodles was, once again, a self-congratulatory good call😌

There were plenty of scallops and clams in it, so fishing out the shellfish was genuinely fun👀

And there's currently an event where writing a Naver receipt review gets you Gyeongju Beopju rice wine, so don't miss that deal and save a little on your drinks〰️
Is Daegang's patio worth it? The verdict
I went to soak up this fleeting patio season at [Daegang], a favorite for aged sashimi on Songni-dan-gil in Jamsil! Sadly, my original goal of trying the raw shrimp sashimi didn't happen since it sold out, but eating aged sashimi outdoors was a whole different experience. More than half the customers were couples — the lantern-lit atmosphere really was that good💕

Daegang in one line
- Aged sashimi enjoyed on an outdoor patio
- A variety of seasonal seafood
- A softly lit atmosphere great for dates
- The clam-scallop soup with added noodles is a must
- Raw shrimp sashimi limited to four servings a day
