Yeongdeungpo bar with a payphone-booth door and soju: Ho Samchon

I go out to Yeongdeungpo pretty often, and whenever I meet friends there it's always "where should we go??" — well, I finally found a great bar for that haha

The side dish lineup is varied and the seats inside are spacious, so I'd recommend this without hesitation as a group dinner spot in Yeongdeungpo haha

Where is Ho Samchon Yeongdeungpo Main Branch, and what are its hours?

Ho Samchon Yeongdeungpo Main Branch is on the 2nd floor at 4 Yeongdeungpo-ro 46-gil, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, and it's open 17:00–02:00 (last order at 1:00 AM). They were open during Chuseok holiday too.

Ho Samchon is in that bar alley in Yeongdeungpo, right after you cross the crosswalk from Yeongdeungpo Market! If you've had a few drinks in Yeongdeungpo before, you probably know exactly where I mean! If it's your first time, I'd recommend using a map to find it. From Yeongdeungpo Station it's a bit of a walk to the bar alley, so just save it on your map to be safe!

Ho Samchon is on the 2nd floor, and once you go up, the exterior itself is flashy. The entrance is genuinely unusual, and I think they nailed the vibe. The door is literally a phone booth kkkㅎㅋㅎㅋ

You'd wonder if this is really it, but push hard and the door actually opens kkkㅎㅋㅎㅋ It's fun from the moment you walk in.

It was Friday evening so it was lively, and as soon as we sat down the basic side snack came out. You know these crackers are basically addictive, right?

What anju (drinking snacks) does Ho Samchon serve?

The side dish menu is seriously varied!

From basic soup dishes to chicken yurinchi and more, the lineup is so diverse that it's great for group dinners! Perfect for ordering a bunch of things together with a few people and having drinks!

Looking at the menu, there was even something called Taegeuk Jjagyechi. Surprising that they had jjagyechi at all. For people who can't drink, they also sell ades separately! You could totally come here with a friend who doesn't drink!

Room for a big group, with an indoor restroom

The inside of Ho Samchon is spacious!! When we went, there seemed to be a lot of tables with group gatherings! The restroom is inside, and so clean~ You know that matters when women are out drinking, right?

Tomato haejang pastang, 21,900 won, for the second round

Since we'd already had a first round and this was our second, we thought about what to eat, and the tomato haejang pastang (a tomato seafood pasta) looked so good we ordered it for ₩21,900, plus mango cream shrimp for ₩16,900, and soju. A pretty good-value bar near Yeongdeungpo Station, noted~

The tomato haejang pastang came out first. It comes with two baguettes and pasta — the lighting makes it look a bit less appetizing in photos, but honestly the visuals in person were great.

There was plenty of crab and seafood, and the tomato flavor was rich, which I loved! Above all, the taste and portion for the price were excellent.

How does the mango cream shrimp, 16,900 won, taste?

Second came the mango cream shrimp. There's mango in the sauce, and its refreshing tang went really well with the crispy fried shrimp!

Tada. We came here for round two after already having round one.. but every side dish looked so good we couldn't help but go overboard again~!

The mango cream shrimp salad had a light drizzle of balsamic on top and it was delicious! At Ho Samchon, which is great as a Yeongdeungpo group dinner spot, they also do birthday events! Sounds like a good place to throw a birthday party with friends too!

Finishing with beaded ice cream, plus plenty of side snacks

One reason I'd recommend this as a Yeongdeungpo second-round bar is that they had plenty of light side snacks too — you know, the refreshing options women tend to like. Pineapple sherbet and the like are just the basics, and I originally ordered the yogurt ice cream but it was sold out ㅠㅠ so I got jasmine ice cream instead, and it was so good as a palate cleanser. Also great as a date-night bar. Good for scoring points~
