Magok Mexican restaurant: a first fish taco and hot sauce, Taqueros

Some days you just suddenly, desperately crave tacos, you know? I used to be a so-so taco person... but then I found out there's a legit, authentic Mexican family restaurant in Magok. I went straight there and, wow, so happy... officially a certified Magok date spot.

Taqueros Magok Main Branch: location and hours

Taqueros is a Mexican family restaurant at 16 Magokjungang 6-ro, Magok G.M.G Tower 2F #202, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. It's open daily from 11:30 to 21:30, closed every Monday, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00.

We booked a table and went on a weekday evening! I genuinely had no idea there was a Mexican family restaurant in Magok... if I'd known, I would've come sooner. The exterior alone gives you that vibe, right? Full-on local flavor. Magok is basically an office district, but suddenly you get this whole abroad feeling haha.

Good for a team dinner or small work gathering?

The inside of Taqueros was bigger than I expected! Seems like a great spot for group gatherings too. The lighting inside is calm and the interior has real atmosphere, so I think it'd work well for a small work dinner or work gathering too.

Complimentary nachos and cheese sauce

As soon as we sat down, a complimentary starter? came out! Nachos and cheese sauce~!! Can't believe they give this for free... the cheese sauce was so thick and rich... and the nachos weren't the nachos we're used to, these were the real deal haha.

QR ordering and the signature couple set

Taqueros uses QR code ordering, and there are so many events going on! I almost signed up for the polaroid photo event but backed out because of my sweat-melted face in the heat haha. Seems like a great spot for anniversaries, and I think even kids would love it haha.

I originally thought about getting the chimichanga, but figured we should try the signature Magok date-spot dish first, so we ordered the Taqueros Signature Couple Set for 2, plus beer! The couple set comes with a fajita + 2 tacos (chicken, fish)!

The Taqueros Signature Couple Set! The portion size is huge to begin with... but it genuinely tastes great and has this exotic aroma that just raises your expectations,... you know that real, authentic taco-shop smell... expectations rising.

First-ever fish taco, and it wasn't fishy at all

The table setting thoughtfully includes hygiene gloves, so you can wrap everything up neatly and eat with them on haha.

I'd never had a fish taco before, so I figured I should try the fish one first... and wow,? The fish taco was soft and so delicious... why did I never eat this before. I thought it might be fishy but it's genuinely delicious. I think I'll only order fish tacos from now on,... hahaha.

The table ketchup and hot sauce are on another level

Taqueros also has ketchup and hot sauce right at the table, and these are on a totally different level of ketchup and hot sauce.. I'm seriously considering buying some to keep at home.. That's what you'd expect from a proper Mexican family restaurant, right?

Couldn't hold back and ordered beer.. I'd originally thought about getting a margarita.. but felt like a cold, refreshing beer would pair better, so I went with that, and I had to stop myself from chugging it in one go.. Fajita, tacos, and beer go together SO well ㅠㅠ

Five sauces, chicken taco, and four fajita fillings

Time for the real eating. Guacamole, salsa, sour cream, tomato? cheese dip sauce—five sauces total, plus jalapeños, so you can wrap things up however you like! The tacos were so good already that I was pretty sure the fajita couldn't possibly be bad..

The chicken taco,,! It's delicious too! But the fish taco was juuust a little bit better?? At least to my taste,,, the chicken was soft and so tasty too lol.

Wrap-and-eat time~ Since it's a Magok date spot, it wasn't loud, so we could chat quietly while eating, which was really nice! My boyfriend said it'd be a good place to bring a blind date. The fajita came with four fillings—shrimp, pulled pork, chicken, beef?—so you can pick and choose according to your taste! There's also rice underneath!

My own little trick: wrapping in nacho chips

My own little specialty.. I tried wrapping the fajita in the complimentary nacho chips they gave us, and it was seriously so good...! Wrapping it in tortilla is delicious too, but switching it up like this brought out a whole different appeal... if you go to Taqueros, try wrapping it in nacho chips too lol.

Better to reserve ahead

We went past the main weekday dinner rush, so by the time we left, only one table besides ours was still occupied, but during peak hours there can be a wait, so I really recommend making a reservation.. The vibe is so Mexican~~ I'm planning to come back next time for the chimichanga,, hahaha.

Looking for somewhere to go for a date in Balsan or Magok? I recommend Taqueros, a Mexican family restaurant with great atmosphere.. Looking at these photos again makes me want to eat it all over again..whoa.
