Chocolate powdered soy milk as a diet snack: Garu Teacher review
In short
Garu Teacher Chocolate Drinkable Soy Milk (Garu Teacher 타먹는생두유 초코) is a powdered soy milk made from four ingredients: soybeans, cocoa powder, unrefined sugar and sea salt. Mixed into water it tastes midway between chocolate milk and cocoa, and 1 scoop stirred into 200ml of coconut milk with 2 spoons of chia seeds sets into a thick chia pudding after 3 to 4 hours in the fridge. The sweetness is mild enough that Garu Teacher needs no extra allulose, which makes it an easy diet snack.

Once you start a diet, all you can think about is something sweet. I really wanted chocolate, so I tried buying dark chocolate bars over 80% cacao, but the sweetness never quite satisfied me and I ended up not reaching for them. Then again, chocolate protein shakes have that distinct protein taste that also puts me off.

That's when I came across Garu Teacher's Chocolate Drinkable Soy Milk. There were lots of reviews of people giving it to their kids as a snack, and I heard it's not just for mixing with water — you can stir it into yogurt or coconut milk, or even use it in baking. So I ordered it right away :)

What does Garu Teacher Chocolate Drinkable Soy Milk taste like?
Mixed with water, Garu Teacher's Chocolate Drinkable Soy Milk tastes like something between chocolate milk and cocoa. You get the sweet, slightly bitter flavor typical of chocolate along with the nutty taste of soy milk.

What I liked was that the sweetness isn't too strong. It's not like an 80%+ dark chocolate where you think "...is this even chocolate?" — there's a gentle, pleasant sweetness, so I didn't need to add allulose separately. If you're someone who usually avoids protein drinks because of that distinct protein taste, this might actually work better for you. (And no worries if you're lactose intolerant, either.)
Is it a good diet snack? Calories, protein and sugar
Garu Teacher's Chocolate Drinkable Soy Milk comes to 129kcal, 6.2g protein, and 5.3g sugar per 30g serving. Rather than replacing a full meal, it's better enjoyed as a snack or drink when you're craving something sweet.

The ingredients list is just four items: soybeans 46.5%, cocoa powder 18%, unrefined sugar, and sea salt. It uses domestic soybeans, and apparently the powdered soy milk manufacturing method is patented. Personally, I liked that the ingredient list isn't complicated and the nutrition info is easy to check at a glance.
Safe as a kids' snack? Allergy information
Garu Teacher's drinkable soy milk contains soy, and the label notes that the manufacturing facility also handles wheat, buckwheat, peanuts, and more. If you're giving it to kids as a snack, check for allergies first.

It's easy to mix into water or milk, and since it's chocolate flavored, kids who crave something sweet really loved it. (My niece has one cup every day at snack time)
Coconut milk chia pudding recipe with Garu Teacher
My favorite way to eat Garu Teacher chocolate powder is as coconut milk chia pudding. Ingredients: 1 scoop of Garu Teacher chocolate powder, 200ml coconut milk, 2 spoons of chia seeds.

I mixed the powder in thoroughly first so it wouldn't clump, then added the chia seeds, and let it sit in the fridge for about 3–4 hours.

As the chia seeds absorb moisture, they turn into a chewy pudding texture. Normally I use unsweetened coconut products and add allulose separately for sweetness, but since Garu Teacher already has a gentle sweetness of its own, I skipped the allulose entirely.

The nutty, smooth flavor of coconut combined with that sweet-bitter chocolate taste is genuinely delicious, and it's the best for keeping your mouth from breaking out with sweets cravings :) Personally, I'd recommend the coconut milk combo over milk or yogurt.

Freeze the pudding for coconut milk ice cream
And if you freeze it briefly, it takes on a soft-serve ice cream kind of texture. Give it a try next time you're craving something sweet!
More ways to use the powder, starting with hot chocolate
The basic method is 2 scoops of powder in 150–180ml of water. You can drink it cold or hot, and once the weather turns cold, mixing it with hot water for a hot-chocolate feel is really satisfying too.

When I went camping in Ganghwado, it got quite chilly in the evening, so I tried mixing it with hot water — a simple warm cup of cocoa really hit the spot.
Besides that, you can mix it into yogurt, or add it to milk or plant-based drinks to make something like a chocolate latte, and it also works in baking. I thought this would just be a plain soy milk you mix with water, but once I actually tried it, I found it surprisingly versatile — and I've already gone through more than half the bag.
If you don't want to give up sweet snacks, but buying chocolate or dessert every time feels like too much, this is worth trying.
