An Instagram comic essay read through short writing and drawings

I want to read books, but I do not have much time—and as my eyesight has worsened, reading has become quite tiring. These days, though, essay books are coming out as Instagram comics, so they are easy and pleasant to read. Jageun Sketchbook was wonderful: a few illustrated panels containing short writing could still leave a big echo.

The package the book came in was lovely too, and the pretty notebook-style memo pad made this Instagram comic essay, Jageun Sketchbook, even ~~ nicer. I am exactly the sort of person whose taste is hit right on target by a memo pad like this—I almost want to buy the book for the pad alone!

Anyway, it was an essay that fit my needs perfectly. As I said before, I want to read books; I am greedy to take even one sentence away from a book for myself; I do not have much time; and my eyesight has worsened so I have to wear glasses. This was the kind of book that solved all of that inconvenience.

A story I packed in my suitcase—though it was not light

It was an essay that made me feel lighthearted. I called it an Instagram comic, but when I looked into its contents, it was not light at all. Jageun Sketchbook was also the essay book I packed for my 2-night, 3-day trip.

One man's worries and decisions from his school days; memories of his parents; and the things he never got to say from the heart. It was a book that looked back on them and wrote them down calmly. As I read, I found comfort and consolation in thinking, “He had the same thoughts as I did,” and that my own brief reflections on my father might not be reflections left only to me...

The moment I came face to face with a piece of my youth

In this Instagram comic, Jageun Sketchbook, I saw a piece of my youth: how I always regretted the gap between my ideals and my ambiguous talent, and how I lacked the passion to endure and overcome it. I saw myself, always trying to find another path as if running away, too.

Were you like that too? I was too... But you still made it. You published an essay like this... I envy you...

Just as it shared a piece of my youth from that time, Jageun Sketchbook may let me share something else through another piece of his writing. Its echo was so great that it was a book like a lap blanket, easing my chill for a little while.
