Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap (웅진달서돼지국밥) is a pork gukbap (pork and rice soup) restaurant in Duryu-dong, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, near Gwangjang Coa and Gamsam Station. The set came with milky, rich broth like beef bone soup, tender pork and well-ripened kimchi and kkakdugi (radish kimchi). The meal was sponsored, but I visited in person and wrote this honestly after trying it :)
Where is Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap?
Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap (웅진달서돼지국밥) is in Duryu-dong, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, at Gwangjang Coa (locals call it "Gwangko"). It's also close to Gamsam Station :)
There were always customers whenever I passed by, so I'd been curious about this place. The weather had just turned chilly and I suddenly craved a good suyuk-baekban (boiled pork with rice), so we went! And wow, I came away having found a real gem😆
I love gukbap (rice soup) and eat it or suyuk-baekban pretty often, and Ungjin Dalseo is one of the best I've had. The portions were generous too!
Where do you park at Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap?

You can park about 2 cars in front of the restaurant, and there's free parking at the Duryu 3-dong temporary public parking lot.
Is it busy at lunchtime?

We got there around 11:30 a.m., and by the time we left, customers kept coming in. I'd guess it gets packed at mealtimes. Here's what the inside looks like.
Bone broth simmered for 1,080 minutes
There's a separate broth room, and they told us the broth is simmered for 1,080 minutes with domestic beef bones and chilled Korean pork front leg meat. No wonder it was milky like sagol gomtang (beef bone soup) and so rich and deep, real, honest broth.

Some well-known people have visited too, haha. It seems they sometimes sell out early. You can feel the owner's pride in the broth! Salt, pepper and perilla seed powder are set out on every table.
How much is the suyuk-baekban at Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap?

Suyuk-baekban is ₩12,000 per person, and we ordered two.

Rice is free! The food is delicious and the price is kind, a great gukbap spot in Dalseo-gu.
How were the kimchi and radish kimchi side dishes?

The kimchi and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) that come as side dishes were great too. They were perfectly aged and went so well with gukbap. The kimchi was geotjeori (fresh-style) with seasoning that had soaked in well, so I kept reaching for it. I even asked for a refill😋

How are the broth and pork in the suyuk-baekban?
The suyuk-baekban comes with a bowl of broth, and the meat in the broth was tender and delicious too. It made me think I should come back just for the gukbap.

The milky broth was so rich and good. Total bone-soup vibes! The meat was tender and soft.

Suyuk-baekban at ₩12,000 per person...!! This one plate is one portion. Such a generous amount, right?!

That seasoned saeujeot (salted shrimp) in the middle was so good too. A perfect match with the pork.

The kimchi went really well with the pork too.

Tender, juicy, chewy pork!😍

Enjoying it with shrimp sauce, kimchi, wraps and soy sauce
One bite with the salted shrimp, then another with kimchi on the juicy pork❤️

I also made wraps with the leafy vegetables that come with the suyuk-baekban. The kkakdugi was really good here too!

They also give you a soy dipping sauce, and it was a treat too!
Is the suyuk-baekban portion big enough?
Chewy, juicy, springy pork, a seriously generous suyuk-baekban! I was so full that I shared some with my boyfriend and still left two slices behind. ✨ The portion was really generous.
If you're looking for a Korean restaurant in Duryu-dong, or good gukbap in Dalseo-gu, I highly recommend Ungjin Dalseo Dwaeji Gukbap. I'm sure you'll have a satisfying, hearty meal😊
