Anseong Chinese restaurant for smoky beef jjamppong: Chibao

In short

Chibao Starfield Anseong Branch is a Chinese restaurant in Starfield Anseong’s Eattopia food hall in Anseong, Gyeonggi. The finely chopped uni jajangmyeon was easy for a child to eat, while the beef jjamppong stood out for its deep, smoky broth. A satisfying meal for both kids and adults.

Chinese food at Starfield Anseong’s Eattopia

Today, I’m going to review Chibao, located in Eattopia at Starfield Anseong!! That day, after picking Ttaengcho up from daycare, we went to see Dino Adventure. Daycare pickup was at 5, and after a big round of fun at Dino Adventure, it was already 7 p.m. I thought our Ttaengcho might collapse from hunger, so we hurried over to Chibao on the second floor of Eattopia!

The cuisine was Chinese!! Jajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce), which kids rarely dislike! Excellent menu choice, haha. They have dishes that both adults and kids can enjoy!!! Ttaengcho ordered uni jajangmyeon, while Jaei and Komkom Mom ordered beef jjamppong and original tantanmen!

We secured a sofa(?) seat. Because Komkom Mom has Strawberry, you see…

My Ttaengcho, excited at the thought of eating jajangmyeon 👶🏻💕

Child waiting for jajangmyeon

The food was ready so quickly!! Original tantanmen, beef jjamppong, and uni jajangmyeon. Actually, I had tom yum goong rice noodles for lunch too, but then I ordered noodles again for dinner. But rice noodles and jajangmyeon are different, right???? Haha. Is there anyone who hates noodle dishes? Haha.

Uni jajangmyeon that my child enjoyed too

A clean, no-frills plating of jajangmyeon. The onions and meat were finely chopped, so it looked easy for children to eat!! When the meat or vegetables are large, kids end up eating only the noodles and leave piles of vegetables and meat behind. But that definitely wouldn’t happen with uni jajangmyeon!

Ttaengcho’s capable chopstick skills. Our very independent baby was stirring it all up alone. Ttaengcho still can’t use adult chopsticks very well, but keeps insisting on using them these daysㅠ

Ttaengcho must have liked it—eating away so enthusiastically!! The lightly sweet flavor of the onion was really nice!! Ttaengcho usually doesn’t eat much, but I think ate more than half a bowl alone that day! The vegetables in the black bean sauce were small too, so Ttaengcho ate the vegetables well. The seasoning was just right, and when Jaei tried a bite, Jaei’s eyes went round from saying it was delicious, haha.

And Strawberry, sleeping again. We call Strawberry a unicorn among ourselves, haha. Although the true form hasn’t appeared yet, haha.

Beef jjamppong with a rich smoky flavor

And this is the beef jjamppong that I really enjoyed!! You can already smell that smoky wok flavor~~~

A bowl of smoky beef jjamppong

It was loaded with beef!! Now I see why it’s called beef jjamppong, haha. Maybe it was even tastier because it had plenty of both vegetables and beef… The broth was wonderfully rich.

It had seafood as well as beef! Chibao really nailed the smoky wok flavor, which is why it’s such a great spot for Chinese food and jjamppong at Starfield Anseong! Even when I make Bibigo jjamppong at home, I use a torch to add a smoky flavor, because it tastes totally different once you do! Shouldn’t they rename this smoky beef jjamppong? I ate the noodles, then mixed rice into the broth too! It really was a huge portion, but it was delicious with rice mixed in as well, haha.

Rich and thick original tantanmen

And this is the tantanmen!! Doesn’t the color of the plating look so appetizing!!? It was such a pretty presentation that I almost hesitated to stir it with my chopsticks.

A bowl of peanut sauce tantanmen

With peanut sauce in it, it was wonderfully nutty!! It was as nutty as kongguksu (cold soybean noodle soup), thick and rich, and I just kept reaching for it! The spice level seemed just right too, so I think even people who can’t handle spicy food could easily eat it!

If you’re having lunch or dinner at Starfield Anseong, especially if you’re visiting with children, stop by Chibao!! Jajangmyeon for the kids, smoky jjamppong for the adults. Wouldn’t that make a meal that satisfies both adults and kids!?
