Chinese restaurant in Anseong for peanut tantanmen: Chibao

Lunch at Starfield Anseong with my son

It may be in Anseong, but it is only 30 minutes from home and somehow feels almost like Chungcheongnam-do! Since the weather had turned pleasantly cool, I visited with my son to get some fresh air. It seems busy whenever we come here~ After shopping for a while, we got hungry and headed up to the second floor.

The ceiling is so pretty that my son and I spent quite a while looking up at it as we entered the restaurant area~

Starfield really has so many places to eat, right? Burgers, bunsik (Korean casual snacks), Japanese food, Western food, and more—I always wonder what to choose, but this time I was suddenly craving Chinese food! So after searching around, off we went to Chibao.

Seating for solo diners and family meals

It felt just right for lunch. There were even counter seats along the side of the restaurant, perfect for dining alone, and I spotted quite a few solo diners! There is truly plenty of seating here, so I do not think I have ever worried about finding a table~ You can visit comfortably.

Since we came with my son, we found a nearby table for four and settled in! There are also plenty of high chairs beside Katsu Bara restaurant, not far from Chibao, so keep that in mind~

Ordering a tantanmen set and Sichuan uni jajang

What should we eat at Chibao~ My husband and I chatted over whether jajangmyeon, jjamppong, or fried rice would be the most filling lunch, when we spotted tantanmen on the menu—a dish you do not see sold everywhere!

So we ordered the single-person great-value tantanmen set and Sichuan uni jajangmyeon. We chose chili tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork) for the set side! You can choose either regular or chili tangsuyuk.

Oh, and they have Pororo drinks and Pororo barley tea for little ones, so we bought a Pororo barley tea too, haha. We had just run out, so it was so nice to be able to buy a kids' drink right there~

The Sichuan uni jajang had such a glossy sheen. I was delighted by the more-than-expected generous portion of noodles and sauce! The finely chopped vegetables and minced meat were perfect~ It looks incredibly delicious even in the photo, does it not?

Tantanmen rich with peanut sauce

The tantanmen had a slightly different feel from the Japanese style! If you were expecting red tantanmen, this one had more peanut sauce, giving it a very soft-looking color, haha. Peanut tantanmen is perfect for anyone who does not like spicy food~

Even the mini tangsuyuk in the set was more generous than I expected! There was lots of sauce over the crisp-looking glutinous-rice fried pork~ I loved the light chili aroma!!!

Gently spicy Sichuan uni jajang

The spiciness of the Sichuan uni jajang was seriously delicious~ The sweet black-bean-sauce flavor and subtle heat were just right. If it is too spicy, I do not want to eat it, but this had the perfect level and such an addictive savory flavor... The noodles were cooked so well too.

Can you see how full the jajang sauce is with ingredients? Because the sauce is so tasty, every bite is packed with rich flavor. A perfectly flawless jajang with nothing lacking..!

The tangsuyuk was the textbook definition of crispy outside and tender inside! But especially in the middle, perhaps because of the glutinous rice, it was wonderfully chewy—the texture was truly charming♥

The tantanmen was definitely a dish with strong sweetness! With so much peanut sauce, my husband, trying tantanmen for the first time, said it was like kongguksu (cold soy milk noodles). I think kids would especially love this flavor~

I visited without huge expectations, but everything was tasty with nothing missing, so I was very satisfied with this Starfield Anseong restaurant. It is great for dining alone or for a date, and when you need a good Starfield restaurant, I would recommend Chibao!
