Milyang pork belly BBQ, first table at opening: Dotdot Main Branch

Last weekend I took my kid on a day trip to Milyang, and for dinner I really wanted hearty, tasty meat. Thick cuts, all kinds of sauces and side dishes, and a rich doenjang stew (soybean paste stew): I enjoyed every bit of it at this Milyang BBQ place, Dotdot, so let me tell you about it 💖

Where is Dotdot Milyang Main Branch, and what are the hours and parking?

Dotdot Milyang Main Branch (돗돗 밀양본점) is at 10 Miribeoljungang-ro 5-gil, 1st floor, units 16 and 17, Milyang-si, Gyeongnam, South Korea, and it is open every day from 16:00 to 24:00. For parking, use the Samun Public Parking Tower right next to the restaurant.

The Samun Public Parking Tower is only about 30 m from Dotdot, so parking was easy and convenient.

Does it fill up fast at opening time?

We did the opening-time run and were the very first customers at Dotdot Milyang Main Branch, but the seats filled up in no time!

What did we order at Dotdot?

You order easily on the tablet at the table.

• 4 servings of fresh ogyeopsal (pork belly)
• Tiger bean doenjang stew
• 2 bowls of rice
• Extra grilled cheese, ordered later

How were the side dishes and olive kimchi?

Side dishes came out before the meat.

These sauces, pastes and side dishes are all listed under "how to eat it best," so I found myself savoring them one by one.

This olive kimchi in particular surprised me: so fresh and so good. My mouth felt totally refreshed, haha.

If you run out of a side dish, you can refill as much as you like at the self-serve bar.

How is the quality of Dotdot's fresh ogyeopsal?

Ta-da 💗 the pork belly arrives! Dotdot's fresh ogyeopsal is thick, with a charm different from thin-sliced meat, and above all the quality of the meat itself looked really good.

The balance of lean meat and fat was great, and with the skin still attached, you really get the signature appeal of ogyeopsal.

How does the tiger bean doenjang stew taste?

The tiger bean doenjang we ordered came out too. Dotdot has a tiger bean doenjang stew with a slightly different charm from ordinary doenjang stew.

It was a little spicy with a nicely rich doenjang flavor, and the tiger beans and other ingredients were generous, so it felt like a proper full meal. My husband must have loved it, because he immediately poured the stew over his rice, hahaha.

And then there was the pork belly sizzling away nicely on the grill. The richness of the fat and the savory depth kept me reaching for more.

How do you eat maeljeot and whole garlic with saeu-jeot?

The maeljeot (salted fermented fish sauce) served at Dotdot is said to be best brought to a boil and dipped generously, so I ate it that way. I don't usually like maeljeot, but Dotdot's was less fishy and tasted so much better.

Then I grilled whole garlic and saeu-jeot (salted shrimp) in nutty sesame oil and ate them with the meat. The savory depth just kept me going back. The well-cooked garlic is the kicker!

My favorite combo: tarae cabbage salad

My favorite combination is having the meat with Dotdot's tarae cabbage salad. It's good even just shoveled in by itself, but

eaten together with the meat, the salty tarae sauce, the cabbage and the pork made a great combination.

Is the grilled cheese worth adding?

Meat alone felt a little lacking, so I also ordered Dotdot's grilled cheese.

Grill it until it's crisp like this,

and you get a proper crispy-outside, soft-inside cheese that I really loved.

From thick, good-quality fresh ogyeopsal to special whole garlic gambas and rich tiger bean doenjang stew, I enjoyed every bit of Dotdot.
