Full by noon on weekdays: why a reservation helps at Moshi Moshi

Here's the inside of Moshi Moshi! There were about 11-12 tables for four. Being near a university area, there were a lot of customers even on a weekday afternoon.

We reserved for 11:30, but by around noon the place was full with a waiting line already forming. The dignity of a real sushi spot near PNU,, I'd recommend reserving ahead if you're going on a weekday afternoon!!

Choosing the menu: omakase sushi for two at ₩70,000

Menu listing sashimi and course meals at Moshi Moshi

Here's the Moshi Moshi menu! I thought they only did sushi, but they also had sashimi, salmon jang (soy-marinated salmon), salad, char siu, and even course meals. Lots of sushi options too, so you can order whatever you like! We wanted to eat really, really well, so it took us over 5 minutes just choosing ;;

We ordered the omakase sushi for two (₩70,000)!! Omakase sushi,, we were so curious how fancy and delicious it would be~~

Standard salad and tofu salad served at the table

The salad and tofu salad that come standard! I tried a bite of the tofu salad and the sauce on top was insanely good. It went so well with the soft tofu 🤍

What comes in the 12-piece omakase plus free udon

Here's the omakase sushi! Apparently if you order the omakase sushi, udon comes free. You get 12 pieces of fancy sushi plus udon and tempura!

Full spread of 12-piece omakase sushi with udon and tempura

The sushi visuals were absolutely insane,, 🤍🤍 all 12 pieces were fish types I love, so I didn't know what to eat first ;; the lineup was white fish, engawa, salmon, abalone, eel, red shrimp, soy-marinated shrimp, and tuna. Given the price point, it was such a great lineup for omakase sushi,,

The udon was packed with shiitake mushrooms, shrimp, and fried tofu pockets. I tried a sip of the broth and the flavor was rich. The fried tofu soaked up the broth so well and was delicious,, the noodles were nice and chewy too,, honestly as good as a dedicated udon restaurant.

The thickest cuts of all: white fish, tuna and salmon sushi

White fish, tuna, and salmon sushi. The rice portion was just right, but more than anything the fish cuts were truly thick. Thickest cuts I've ever had in sushi,, it just melted in my mouth the moment it hit 🤍

Abalone, engawa and tuna sushi

Abalone, engawa, and tuna sushi. The abalone came steamed. It was a nice big size. The engawa was crunchy, savory, and so delicious. The tuna sushi was.. truly a fancy flavor,, just melts away,,

Soy-marinated and red shrimp sushi, too big for one bite

My favorite, shrimp sushi!! The soy-marinated shrimp wasn't salty at all and was so plump and delicious. And the size was so big I couldn't fit it in one bite. The red shrimp had a light torch sear, giving off a subtle smoky flavor, and the sauce on top was delicious too — just plump and tasty. Looking at these photos while writing this, I want to eat it again,,

The extra-long eel sushi

Can you see how long this eel sushi is!! Super long and beautifully colored eel,, so good!! The sweet-salty sauce coating the eel was soft to bite into and just melted away 🤍

Overall the sushi pieces were sizeable and high quality. Maybe it's because it's omakase sushi, but the fish cuts were thick and they let the tail of the fish drape long over the rice, which made it even more enjoyable to eat. And the fish was so fresh, period!!

The tempura was shrimp tempura, sweet potato, and kabocha squash. The batter was crispy and warm — really enjoyable to eat.
