Family-friendly restaurant in Gasan, Seoul for a late dinner: Yukhwang

A must-visit restaurant recommendation near Gasan Digital Complex

We've been eating out a lot lately, and out of all the restaurants I've been to this year, I want to introduce the one that made me happiest and left me the most satisfied :) It's Yukhwang, a hanwoo (Korean beef) yukhoe bibimbap and gomtang specialist near Gasan Digital Complex Station! I've rarely been this satisfied eating out — not just the food, but the warmth of the owner and staff won me over, and we already promised each other we'd go back soon!

Where Yukhwang is, opening hours and parking

Yukhwang is at 101 Gasan Digital 2-ro, Hanla One&One Tower Bldg A, 1F, Unit 121, Geumcheon-gu, Seoul. It's about 400m on foot from Exit 8 of Gasan Digital Complex Station (Lines 1 and 7).

• Hours: Mon–Sat 11:00–21:00 (last order 20:20)
• Closed: Every Sunday (also closed Sep 24–26 for Chuseok)
• Parking: In-building parking at Hanla One&One Tower, supported 11:00–5:30pm / 1 hour supported 5pm–9pm

There are lots of great restaurants near Gasan Digital Complex where parking is impossible, so having plenty of parking right in the Hanla One&One Tower building at Yukhwang was such a relief.

A 10-minute wait late in the evening with two kids

Even though we visited late in the evening, there was still a wait — a true sign of a popular Gasan Digital Complex restaurant! We waited about 10 minutes before getting seated. While waiting, my younger one played around with dad, and my older one and I read a book together, so the time flew by. There's an open space right in front of the restaurant where you can sit comfortably while waiting, which was so nice :)

You could feel the kindness from the moment we walked in! The owner and all the staff greeted us so warmly that my mood lifted the instant we stepped inside. That warm atmosphere really matters when dining out with kids, and feeling well taken care of throughout the meal made me even more grateful.

Yukhwang's menu and what our family ordered

Yukhwang, a restaurant near Gasan Digital Complex, apparently uses only carefully selected fresh hanwoo every day. Overall, the prices across the menu were really reasonable, giving off a sense of both great value and great quality. Since we visited late in the evening, unfortunately a few menu items were already sold out! That probably just means they prepare and sell only a limited amount of fresh ingredients each day, right? It was a bit disappointing, but it gave us a reason to come back soon and try the dishes we missed :) We ordered hanwoo yukhoe bibimbap, rich hanwoo gomtang (+added noodles), and a plate of suyuk.

While waiting for the food, my older one and I kept reading together, and I was surprised when my younger one suddenly started setting the spoons and chopsticks. When did they grow up so much? So proud.

Side dishes at Yukhwang: seasoned vegetables, seokbakji radish kimchi and salted octopus

Before the main dishes arrived, we got seasoned vegetables, spicy-tangy seokbakji (radish kimchi), and plump nakji-jeot (salted octopus). I heard the seokbakji is made fresh in-house every day. One bite in and it was crisp with savory depth, pairing perfectly with the gomtang :) I also loved how generously they portioned the salted octopus.

Soy-based hanwoo yukhoe bibimbap: the best I've eaten ★★★★★

Yukhwang's hanwoo yukhoe bibimbap uses a special soy-based sauce instead of gochujang. Honestly, I don't usually eat yukhoe bibimbap that often. So this was my husband's order — but after stealing one bite, my eyes lit up.

Most other places use a gochujang-based seasoning for their yukhoe bibimbap, but Yukhwang uses a special soy-based sauce! The sweet, savory flavor that clung perfectly to every bite was truly outstanding. I never knew yukhoe bibimbap could taste this good — the chewy, fresh flavor of the hanwoo yukhoe (raw beef) came through so clearly that this was the best yukhoe bibimbap I've had in my entire life. If you come to Yukhwang, you absolutely have to order this! Oh, and the seokbakji mixed in throughout was such a nice touch. Honestly... it was so good I felt dizzy.

Owner... why on earth is there meat in the broth that comes with the yukhoe bibimbap? Why!

Rich hanwoo gomtang with thin noodles, shared with the kids

The gomtang we ordered for the kids had a broth so deeply simmered it was pure depth and warmth. The broth that gently warmed and soothed our stomachs was rich beyond belief, but what really surprised us was how generous the portion of meat was. No matter how much we ate, more meat kept turning up! Slurping it down with the added noodles, the kids devoured it happily :)

The suyuk (boiled pork/beef slices) we ordered as a side had such tender grain that it melted away the moment it hit my mouth. There was no gamey smell at all, just pure savory flavor that made me instantly want a drink!

But did you know? At Yukhwang, a great restaurant near Gasan Digital Complex, the review perk is a whopping half plate of suyuk. You definitely have to take part in this.

Does Yukhwang work for drinks after work?

It's great for a hearty lunch, but in the evening, beyond the suyuk we had, there are also wonderful drinking-food options like suyuk hot pot, gopchang hot pot, and fresh hanwoo yukhoe. There's probably no better restaurant near Gasan Digital Complex for enjoying great food and a drink with coworkers after work. We were a designated driver plus a lightweight, though, so we made do with some nutty, unidentifiable tea — barley or boricha or something.

Why our family will go back to Yukhwang in Gasan

We've eaten out so much this year, but Yukhwang stands out above all for hitting every note perfectly — taste, price, parking, and friendly service all at once. You could feel the freshness of the ingredients and the care put into every dish, which warmed my heart the whole meal through.
