Suwon tea café after Wolhwawon: fig cake & Darjeeling milk tea, Diaz

After lunch and a stroll around Wolhwawon, I headed to a café for a relaxed tea time ☕️🌿 Let me introduce Diaz Cake Boutique (디아즈케이크부띠끄), a great place for sweet desserts and a comfortable rest 💟

Where is Diaz Cake Boutique?

Diaz Cake Boutique is a café on the 2nd floor of a building on Ingye-ro 166beon-gil, at the start of Nahyeseok Street in Ingye-dong, Suwon. It is open daily from 10:00 to 21:00, and parking is not available.

It's in a busy part of town, so at first I wondered, a stylish café here? haha But the moment I stepped out of the elevator, the mood changed completely.

It felt elegant from the entrance, so I was looking forward to it before even going in 🏛️🤍

Inside Diaz Cake Boutique: interior and seating

Inside, the cake showcase is the first thing you see, and further in there are tea-room-style seats, big-window seats and a 6-person group table, each with its own mood. Every cake in the showcase looked delicious, so my eyes kept drifting back to it haha 🍰

Along the aisle there are tea-room-style seats, nice for sitting back and enjoying tea time ☕️

Go further in and there's an elegant space with big windows flooded with sunlight 🌿✨

There was also a 6-person group table inside, with a vintage interior and its own charm!

The mood differs a little from seat to seat, so you can pick whichever suits you ♡ It works for quiet tea time or for visiting with friends.

What cakes and teas does Diaz Cake Boutique have?

The cake lineup changes with the season. When I visited there were fruit fresh cream cake, fig cake, chocolate cake and tiramisu. It's known as a dessert spot in Suwon, so my expectations were high 🍰🫖🍓🍫

The whole cakes are generously loaded with fruit and look elegant and pretty, so they caught my eye haha If you're looking for a whole cake in Suwon for a special day or as a gift, take a look 🎂✨

And it's not only cakes. The teas come in a real variety too! There are many tea drinks based on black tea, rooibos and oolong, so you can choose to your taste ☕️🌿

• Grapefruit honey black tea, iced

There are pretty vases on the tables, so it's easy to take Instagram-worthy photos. The black tea came in a lovely teapot too, which made it feel like proper tea time 🫖

How does the fig fresh cream cake at Diaz Cake Boutique taste?

The fig fresh cream cake has a milk-cream flavor without being heavy, so I could enjoy it to the last bite. I heard the fresh cream is 100% Seoul Milk animal-based cream. It was the item I was most looking forward to, and it lived up to that 🍰

They also say they select only top-grade fruit. These were among the sweetest, tastiest figs I've had this year >< No mushy spots, the fruit was in really good shape, and you could properly taste that sweetness figs have. If you're looking for a proper fresh cream cake in Suwon, I recommend Diaz Cake Boutique 💗

Fortnum & Mason Darjeeling: add milk and it becomes milk tea

The black tea at Diaz Cake Boutique comes in a teapot and you pour it yourself, and the black teas can also be had as milk tea if you add milk. Black tea with cake, what more can I say haha It was an elegant, feel-good tea time ♡ 🫖

What I found especially fun is that the black teas can become milk tea if you add milk! You can enjoy the plain tea first, then switch to milk tea, so one tea gives you two ways to drink it 🤎

Iced grapefruit honey black tea

The grapefruit honey black tea I ordered alongside was refreshing and sweet 🍊 The grapefruit on top was really fresh and tasty too, so I was happy with it.

Verdict: an Ingye-dong tea café worth visiting in fig season

I was happy with Diaz Cake Boutique, where you can enjoy tasty cake and black tea in an elegant setting. The cake especially left an impression: fresh, sweet fruit, soft sponge and non-greasy animal-based fresh cream, all balanced so well that I still remember it 🤍 I recommend visiting to try it before fig season ends 🫖
