Suyeong pork barbecue restaurant: Geobugi Dongne Busan Namcheon

I visited Geobugi Dongne (거북이동네) Busan Namcheon Branch in Namcheon-dong, Busan. I ordered samgyeopsal (pork belly), hangjeongsal (pork jowl), and doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew), and what stayed with me was being able to eat them with such a wide variety of wrap vegetables and side dishes.

How do you get there from Namcheon Station, and is parking available?

The restaurant was visible as soon as I came out of Exit 1 of Namcheon Station. Its address is 414 Suyeong-ro, 1st floor, Suyeong-gu, Busan, South Korea, and it is about an eight-minute walk from KBS Hall. It was convenient to reach by subway, but there is no dedicated parking, so drivers need to use nearby paid parking.

The hours listed in the original post are 11:30 to 22:30, with last orders at 21:30.

Is the space suitable for family meals or work gatherings?

The interior was spacious, with generous space between tables. There were also private rooms farther inside for dining separately. From the space, I thought it would be worth considering for family meals, work gatherings, or get-togethers with friends.

What are the table setting fee and minimum order?

The basic table setting fee is ₩3,500 per table. The first meat order must be at least 500g, while additional orders start from 200g.

There is a separate table setting fee, but I could comfortably help myself to side dishes at the self-service bar. There was a wide range of basic side dishes, the wrap vegetables felt fresh, and there were several sauces to have with the meat.

What did I order, and what was the doenjang-jjigae like?

The menu included pork and beef, shabu-shabu, and meal dishes. I ordered three servings of samgyeopsal, two servings of hangjeongsal, and doenjang-jjigae. At first, I wondered what the meat would taste like for the price, but after trying it, I was satisfied with the value.

The doenjang-jjigae had a separate burner beside it, so I could keep it warm as I ate. It was generously portioned and deeply savory—the kind of flavor that made me want to order a bowl of rice and mix it in.

How did I eat the samgyeopsal and hangjeongsal?

The samgyeopsal and hangjeongsal I ordered looked fresh in color. Staff do not grill the meat for you; you grill it yourself.

There was also cold draft beer, so I ordered it to drink with the meat.

From the self-service bar, I brought gosari (bracken fern), seasoned bean sprouts, gat-kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi), radish kimchi, and sauces. Adding side dishes between bites of meat made it easy to keep eating without getting tired of the flavors.

I put meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) on the grill as well. I grilled the scored samgyeopsal myself.

It was good with just salt, but I preferred eating it as ssam (a wrapped bite). With the wide range of wrap vegetables and side dishes, I could change up the combinations.

I also liked the combination with gat-kimchi on top. I did not expect much from the basic side dishes, but they were satisfying alongside the meat.

I also dipped the meat generously in teriyaki sauce. Its flavor reminded me of tonkatsu sauce, making for a different way to eat it.

The hangjeongsal was tasty too, but of the two, I liked the samgyeopsal more. The beef ordered at the next table also looked good, so I would like to try it on a future visit.

Is there dessert after the meal?

I also had ice cream for dessert. Ice cream is available for takeaway only.

I finished the meal after having samgyeopsal with various side dishes and dessert. The spacious room and private rooms stood out as features for gatherings, and I was satisfied with the food for the price. When visiting, it is worth keeping the lack of dedicated parking, the table setting fee, and the first meat order minimum in mind.
