Chuseok is coming up soon, and whether it's the holiday itself or another day off in October, it's nice to have a place where families can eat out without much fuss while also getting a little outing in. That's Bueokgan Restaurant, Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets, known as a go-to Western food spot in Gijang, Busan. It's open year-round, so there's no need to worry about visiting during the holidays, and the place itself is spacious with generous table spacing, so it was even easy to push a stroller through. My partner and I went on a weekday lunch, and there were way more parents with kids than I expected.

Where is Bueokgan? The very back of NORTH building, 1st floor

Bueokgan Restaurant, Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets is located at the very back of the NORTH building's 1st floor.

It was my first time at this Shinsegae Outlet, so I was a little lost at first, but once I checked the maps posted around the mall, it wasn't hard to find my way.

The restaurant is tucked in a corner, so I wondered if people would actually find their way here — but the moment it hit 12:30, customers came pouring in, and I could tell this was already a proven favorite for Western food in Busan.

The upscale exterior and the stylish sign stood out, giving it a completely different feel from the typical outlet mall store.

70 pyeong with high chairs: a lunch table that works with kids

Bueokgan Restaurant is about 70 pyeong (roughly 231 m²), so stepping inside, it definitely felt spacious.

The table spacing was generous, making it easy to park a stroller, and with high chairs and kids' tableware on hand, it was perfect for families with young children.

Seeing so many parents with kids even on a weekday lunch made me realize why this place has such a reputation as a lunch favorite in Gijang, Busan. The wood-toned interior with a touch of Nordic style felt warm yet sophisticated, and with corkage free for up to 3 bottles (₩15,000 per bottle from the 4th on), it also seemed like a great spot for a wine gathering.

Is the 59,000 won signature set worth it on a first visit?

Bueokgan Restaurant's menu covers everything from soups, salads, and pastas to gnocchi, lasagna, risotto, pilaf, pizza, and steak — a brunch café-slash-family restaurant that fully earns titles like Gijang's best pasta spot, best pizza spot, and best steak spot.

We ordered the signature set (₩59,000), and honestly, the set menu is such a win that I'd recommend it to anyone visiting for the first time. It comes with napa cabbage Caesar salad (₩16,000), basil pesto cream pasta (₩18,000), jambon pizza (₩24,000), and fresh-squeezed orange juice (₩4,500), which worked out more economical than ordering everything separately.

Napa cabbage Caesar salad (16,000 won)

A salad made with grilled napa cabbage topped with poached egg, sun-dried tomato, bacon chips, fried onion flakes, Caesar dressing, and a generous layer of cheese.

Unlike the leafy-greens-based Caesar salad we're all used to, this one serves the whole cabbage grilled, which gave it almost a savory pancake-like feel. When you pop the poached egg and let it mix in for extra creaminess, it was really delicious.

It's funny — this is the exact same dish I once fell in love with at another restaurant with my mom, and I was surprised to find it here too. It was impressive enough that I think if every restaurant served salad like this, everyone would love salad. Honestly, I visited Bueokgan Chinese before and didn't really feel like going back, but with Bueokgan Restaurant, this napa cabbage salad alone makes me want to return.

Jambon pizza (24,000 won)

A pizza loaded with thinly sliced house-made jambon (ham) and Grana Padano cheese, drizzled with honey.

The honey was already brushed onto the dough, so every bite naturally carried a soft, sweet flavor. Pistachios on top added an extra layer of nuttiness with every bite.

As someone who loves jambon in general, the combination of salty ham, sweet honey, and nutty pistachio hit all the right notes — I really enjoyed this one.

It's not just the spacious layout that brings parents with kids here — I'd bet this flavor alone is reason enough.

Basil pesto cream pasta (18,000 won)

Bueokgan's signature pasta, eaten by popping a poached egg and mixing it into the cream.

The thick basil pesto cream coated the noodles evenly, and it was fun how breaking the poached egg into it made the whole thing turn even richer and creamier.

The distinct fragrance of basil paired well with the savoriness of the cream, and I kept going back for more.

It wasn't overly seasoned and was soft enough that kids could eat it without any issue, and the portion in the set was just right for two people.

We had a little left over, so families with young kids should find the portion just about right.

Fresh-squeezed orange juice (4,500 won)

I liked that the set included fresh-squeezed orange juice instead of soda.

For families with kids, a fresh fruit juice like this is probably more welcome than soda. It's a great, sweet-and-tart palate cleanser, and it shows how much thought went into taking care of the kids' health too — all within a single set menu.

Final verdict and the easiest parking route

Since it was my first time at this Shinsegae Outlet, I got a bit lost at first, and with the restaurant tucked in a corner, I wondered if people would even find it. Maps posted around the mall made it easy to figure out the way, and for parking, I used the outlet's lot — since it was my first visit, I initially headed to Parking Lot A, but following the crowd led me to the parking tower instead. The parking tower is the closest route to the restaurant, so keep that in mind if you're planning a visit.
