Beef just tastes best grilled over good charcoal.
Sutbul Seonghwa (숯불성화) is a charcoal-grilled beef restaurant worth looking up near Seokchon Station. Quality meat, real charcoal, and even whisky and wine are all on offer, so it's a nice pick when you want something a little more special than an ordinary BBQ place.

What I ordered this time was the Seonghwa Platter (성화모듬)! It's ₩99,000, and I'll go through the mood of the place and the meat you get at Sutbul Seonghwa from my own visit.
What is the atmosphere like at this Seokchon Station BBQ restaurant?
Sutbul Seonghwa is a Seokchon Station beef restaurant that values five things: good meat, charcoal fire, drinks, the space, and the people you share it with.

I was impressed that it aims for more than just grilling meat: the idea is a meal where meat, fire and drinks come together. If you love beef, or want good meat with good drinks, this place should interest you.
Unlike a typical BBQ joint where you eat fast and leave, Sutbul Seonghwa has a relaxed mood that suits long conversations. It's worth considering for dates, get-togethers with friends, or a dinner on a special day.
What meat and charcoal does Sutbul Seonghwa use?
One thing the restaurant emphasizes is the pairing of meat and charcoal.

They say they use top-grade beef ribs with harmonious marbling, and charcoal made the traditional way from high-quality oak from Chungju, North Chungcheong.
The charm is that good beef meeting well-prepared charcoal adds a subtle smoky aroma to the meat's flavor. Fat distribution and texture differ from cut to cut, so eating several cuts together makes comparing them fun. Sutbul Seonghwa cares about the true flavor of the meat and that charcoal scent, so it suits anyone who wants to really enjoy beef.
What comes in the ₩99,000 Seonghwa Platter?
The dish I chose at Sutbul Seonghwa was the Seonghwa Platter. The price: ₩99,000!

It's an assorted platter that lets you try several cuts at once, so it's a good choice when you can't decide what to eat. The Seonghwa Platter combines Seonghwa sirloin (성화등심) and wine-marinated rib fingers (늑간살).

The Seonghwa sirloin gives you that rich, nutty beef flavor, while the wine-marinated rib fingers have a seasoning that gives a different taste.

I could feel the advantage of a platter: rather than eating one cut over and over, you can alternate between different flavors.

How should you eat the Seonghwa Platter?
I'd suggest starting with salt or wasabi to taste the meat itself, then using the various accompaniments however you like.

If you're looking for a beef restaurant with atmosphere near Seokchon Station, keep the Seonghwa Platter at Sutbul Seonghwa in mind.
What drinks does Sutbul Seonghwa have?
Another feature of Sutbul Seonghwa is the variety of drinks to go with the meat. With whisky, wine, champagne and more, it works for more than a plain dinner and makes for a slightly more special time.

Beef is great with wine, and whisky is an appealing match too, depending on your taste. When good meat, charcoal fire and drinks come together, the whole meal feels richer. It struck me as a place that suits anniversaries, dates, or any day you want to set a nicer mood or eat slowly with people you like.

If you plan to order drinks at Sutbul Seonghwa, I recommend checking the menu and prices before you go.
Where do you park at Sutbul Seonghwa?
