Yakiniku in Gwangalli after a 7km run: sake corkage for 4 at Bisyoku
In short
Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is a hanwoo (Korean beef) yakiniku restaurant in Millak-dong, Gwangalli, Busan. After running 7km from Daeyeon-dong, the writer sat at a table with 4 friends and ordered the hanwoo assorted set, a half portion of the Korean pork and hanwoo set, handmade dumplings and hanwoo doenjang stew, paired with a bottle of Kubota Manju sake a friend brought under the corkage policy, and caught the evening snow event. Two years in as a regular, the writer finds Bisyoku Gwangan Branch still a group-friendly yakiniku spot with fresh meat and a local Japanese feel.

Millak-dong in Gwangalli is my daily running route, and these days it's also Busan's top-tier hotspot. One of my little joys lately is running to wherever I'm meeting people, then eating something delicious and having a good time! This is also my first restaurant write-up in a long while. I kept telling myself I'd post one every weekend, fell way behind, so this week I'm going to write one a day for 3 days straight 🤭

Bisyoku in Gwangalli: a local meat spot I keep coming back to

Today I ran 7km from Daeyeon-dong to Millak-dong (the far end of Gwangalli) and went straight to Bisyoku for dinner!! I think Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is the best place in Busan for hanwoo (Korean beef) yakiniku. The vibe is great too, so it's perfect for group meetups or dates. I've already been a few times, but this was my first visit in quite a while :)

What is the seating like at Bisyoku Gwangan Branch?
The building has 2 floors with several seating styles: counter (datchi) tables, regular tables and private rooms, so pick based on your group size and preference. My first visit was about 2 years ago, I think, and even on a weekday the place was almost full, just like back then-

What are the corkage terms at Bisyoku Gwangan Branch?
Corkage is ₩30,000, but if you order 3 or more alcoholic drinks, corkage is free! There were 4 of us, so I reserved a table seat through Catch Table. Since we were finally eating delicious hanwoo yakiniku again, a friend brought a bottle of Kubota Manju (sake) and we enjoyed it haha 🤍✨

The side dishes that come with the yakiniku are neat and well done at Bisyoku in Gwangalli -
Bisyoku Gwangan Branch menu: top-grade hanwoo yakiniku

There aren't many places in Busan where you can eat hanwoo of this grade at a good price in the authentic yakiniku grilling style. I go to Japan often and always have at least one yakiniku meal there, and Bisyoku in Gwangalli.. honestly I think it holds its own against them..!

We started with a set that lets you try yakiniku from a variety of cuts!

Hehehe so good *_* ✨ After huffing and puffing through 7km, this dinner was the perfect reward. Nutty, rich hanwoo yakiniku lightly brushed with tare (sweet soy-based dipping sauce) >< Does anyone out there not like this..?

First drink: a cold Suntory draft beer! Is there any better luxury on a summer night haha. The atmosphere at Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is Japanese local through and through, so it felt like being on a trip, and I loved it.

Are the handmade dumplings at Bisyoku a must-order?
These handmade dumplings (mandu) that Bisyoku recommends are a real specialty! The price is good too, so definitely try a plate... They're so packed and plump that one dumpling gets you feeling pretty full..!

Then we kept going with sake and ordered more meat ✨✨✨✨

Adding a half portion of the pork-and-hanwoo set
For round two we ordered a half portion of the set that combines pork and hanwoo, and the pork at Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is nutty and delicious too! When eating only beef gets a bit monotonous, this set is a nice option.
What time is the snow event at Bisyoku in Gwangalli?

At Bisyoku Gwangan Branch, you can experience snow falling in the middle of summer twice in the evening, at 6:30pm and 8:30pm. It's Bisyoku in Gwangalli's special moment: the snowy night! I was in my running gear but still got a proper commemorative shot haha!! It lasts a few minutes, and people left their meals to come out, take photos and watch. These little special moments are such a small joy.. I was so happy!!

Finishing with egg sauce and hanwoo doenjang stew
We grilled the remaining yakiniku and ate it with egg sauce

The hanwoo doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) was boiled sul-bap style (the kind that goes with drinks), and we shared it for a hearty finish 🥹

Back at Bisyoku Gwangan Branch after a while: still as good?
It had been a few months, and Bisyoku was still full of friendly service and fresh meat and dishes that are always kept up well. With the clean, exotic atmosphere and the little event on top, if you're looking for a modest but special meal in Millak-dong, Gwangalli, I'm happy to recommend Bisyoku with confidence :) I already want to run again, eat meat and get my protein!!
