Parking on the building's first floor made visiting by car convenient. If it is full, you can use the paid parking lots at Gyeongbok Building, SK Hub Blue, or Gangnam Paragon, all about three minutes away. On Sundays, the Korea Land & Housing Corporation parking lot is free, so keep that in mind.

The Gangnam hair salon is on the building's second floor, so I went up the stairs. There was a simple price list by the entrance, which was nice for getting a general idea of the price range.

I visited after making a Naver reservation, but you can also book quickly and easily by phone. They confirmed my reservation at the front and showed me to my seat.

Inside, Anew Hair had the clean, polished atmosphere you'd expect from a Gangnam hair salon. The large windows kept it from feeling stuffy, even during a long appointment, which I liked.

It is an open space, but it is divided so well that you don't really see other people, so I wasn't particularly uncomfortable throughout the appointment.

Hair consultation based on head shape and styling habits

Before the treatment began, we started with a hair consultation. I met with the senior stylist, who carefully checked my head shape, hair condition, and usual styling habits. We talked through what was bothering me and how I could style my hair as easily as possible in my current situation, then worked out the direction together.

I didn't want to go any shorter than my current length, so we decided on a layered C-curl perm that would be easy to style. Since I have a slight natural wave near the roots, we went with a magic-setting perm.

First, they brought me a drink. There was quite a varied menu, including Americano, latte, and tea. I had gone without breakfast and was a little hungry, so I appreciated that they thoughtfully brought a snack, too.

After the shampoo, the treatment moved along smoothly. The senior stylist had lots of funny stories and we got along well in conversation, so I was comfortable the whole time and didn't even notice time passing.

The layered C-curl perm is finished! The curls looked natural, the volume came alive, and the whole mood looked completely different. This is how it looks after simply drying it—I'd call that a success, right? 😉
