I visited Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch, a Yeongtong District Office-area restaurant everyone's been talking about. It's a new spot that uses prime-grade beef. Personally, unless I'm eating two-plus number-nine grade, I think prime beef gives the best satisfaction for the price and taste. This place is exactly that kind of spot.

What the dining room at Sogogi Twist looks like
Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch feels like a clean, tidy BBQ restaurant — great for a work dinner or a gathering. Since we'd booked ahead, the table was already set for us, with neat basic side dishes and a hygienic setup. You know how at a lot of BBQ places everything you touch is greasy and sticky? None of that here at all. That was something I really appreciated.

The prime beef platter arrives with a dry-ice show
The beef platter came out with a dry-ice performance — the visual was on point. Watching the smoke rise as the prime-grade beef appeared was perfect for photos. The kids loved it. As a customer, this kind of performance really catches your eye. Even the radish garnish carved with the "Sogogi Twist" logo showed attention to detail. The 1kg platter of kkotsaeusal, salchisal and jebichuri had a fresh color you could tell was quality just by looking.

How does the prime beef taste on the grill?
It's prime grade, so it was delicious however you ate it. Grilled and eaten plain, the outside gets a light sear while the inside stays juicy and bursting with flavor. Dipped in salt, the beef's natural flavor really comes alive — a single grain of salt amplifies that deep umami unique to prime grade. With a dab of wasabi, the sharp kick cuts through the fat, so I never got tired of it no matter how many pieces I ate. Piled on onion and scallion, the crunchy texture brought out the beef's flavor even more. Wrapped in perilla leaf, the subtle herbal aroma made for a whole different combination. Every combination was delicious. Prime is prime.

Three banchan and the wasabi pickled onion
The basic side dishes at Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch are yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi), kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), and a wasabi onion pickle — three charming banchan. The yeolmu kimchi is crunchy and refreshing; one bite between bites of beef cleans your palate right up. The kkakdugi has a lively spiciness with a good bite, and it goes perfectly with the meat. The onion pickle is mixed with wasabi — the sharp kick blends with the sweet onion, and this combo was genuinely unique and delicious. These three are unforgettable. Really excellent.

Finishing with cheese-bomb steamed egg
We finished with cheese egg custard. Puffed up softly over the rim of the earthenware pot, it looked delicious just to see. Sprinkled with parsley, it looked pretty too, and once you scoop a spoonful, the cheese stretches out into a soft, savory bite. Eaten after the meat, it feels like it gently settles everything in your mouth.
The business card is a free doenjang rice coupon
At Sogogi Twist Yeongtong District Office Branch, your business card is essentially a coupon. A doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice, one serving) service coupon is attached to your card. You can use one per table, so if you get one, be sure to keep it.
The place where beef is cheaper than pork belly!!
That's what it says, and once you eat here, you'll see it's really true.
